Greetings Tangophiles

Thanks to all those folk who came along to our April First Sunday PracTeaLonga on the 3rd.

We were again really pleased and surprised at the number of you who made the effort. The generous folk who contributed to the sharing table qualify for extra hugs.

Very special thanks go to the folk who helped us get the venue ready and the hordes who helped to clear up at the end, staff the kitchen and help keep the sharing table organised. It is all you folk that made the PracTeaLong feel like a family affair, the floor was busy all the time and it was great to see you all enjoying it. We certainly enjoyed it although you may have noticed - we cannot take ourselves too seriously on the dance floor!

We look forward to seeing you all at Cosy Hall for the next First Sunday PracTeaLonga which is on 1st May from 3 'til 7 - so keep a marker in your diary to come along and get your Tango Argentino fix - don't be late as you will miss some great music!

Meanwhile our classes are still going on every Thursday from 7:30 where we try to infect complete beginners with Tango Argentinoitis and then help those already infected to improve on their musicality and technique. Everyone is welcome to come along.

We are hiring Cosy hall again this Sunday (20th March) from 3 to 6 for another of our Tango Tips and Tricks practise sessions

We know some of you cannot get to our normal Thursday classes due to work etc., so we were wondering if any of you would be interested joining in with another of our 'Tango Tips' sort of workshop session this Sunday? The following are my thoughts on how it will be structured again:-
• We hire Cosy Hall for 3 hours.
• Bruce organises the music.
• We would practise our own dancing in the presence of all attending dancers and especially our musicality, and over the course of the session stop and work on a particular aspect of the Tango/Vals/Milonga that we or any others would like to cover.
• We would think about changing partners on occasion to check that the Leader is getting their lead across to the Follower. (It is just as daunting for a Follower to tune into a new Leader so it helps them as well.)
• We would help you to use your tango to dance to any piece of music.
It costs about £50 to hire the hall for 3 hours so if we could muster 10 people who each make a contribution it could pay for itself. The usual tea/coffee and biccies will be provided.

We would aim to have roughly equal numbers of Leaders and Followers so nobody is sitting out unless they are sampling the tea/coffee.

If you are interested, please let us know; and if there is anything in particular you would like to cover, let us know that as well.

Thanks to all the folk who attended our February PracTeaLonga on Sunday. Great to again see a full floor with smiling faces. Thanks again to the stars who helped us set up and clear up - it really does help Tricia and I a LOT and we really appreciate it. Our lessons continue on THURSDAYS at 7:30 - we would love some more ladies to come along as for the last few weeks we have been rich with leaders. Our next PracTeaLonga is on Sunday 6th March starting at 3pm - so come along and join in. In addition - Tricia and I plan to open the hall on Sunday 20th February from 3pm to practise ourselves, and would welcome any others to come along to partner up and practise themselves. Thanks to all the folk who attended our classes last night, it was good fun.
Taking the latest government suggestions into account and bearing in mind the festive season about to engulf us, we will not be holding any more classes this year.
However, at present we intend to hold our First Sunday PracTeaLonga on Sunday 2nd January 2022 at 3pm, and to resume our classes on Thursday 6th January 2022 at 7:30pm.

Greetings Tangophiles - It is time to re-discover your dance after the Lockdown Layoff - or come along for the very first time.

Our beginners classes will be starting at 7:30 on Thursday 2nd September.

As we have all been Tango-less for the duration we will be treating our early lessons as WD40 sessions for beginners, and all levels, to get the rust out of your Tango Joints, muscles and memory.

We are taking the suggested measures of 'Social Distancing' and cancelling our Tango classes for the foreseeable future, based on very recent information regarding the spread of the Coronavirus, and what we can all do to delay or suppress the spread.

We are trying to avoid being part of a chain of infection propagation by learning from what has happened in Italy and other places that have taken the 'won't happen here' attitude, and seeing the difference between the official figures announced daily during the initial spread in China and the real figures determined after the 'scores were in'.

From 8:30 until the close we will be running a themed Practica which will be in the form of a free dance session/milonga where we suggest a 'theme' for you to practise and incorporate into your dancing. Two themes this week, 'The Baldosa'.and 'Ocho Milonguero'.

You are encouraged to use the time from 8:30 to the close as a mid week milonga with guidance available if you want it. This format is also ideal for 'Ladies Who Wish To Learn To Lead With Sensitivity'.

The continuous music will encourage you to dance 'till the close.
