This morning we had the pleasure of welcoming Pam Spellen, Telford minister, into school to make Christingles with Willow class. The children spoke about the meaning of a Christingle and what each part symbolises. Pam led the children in prayer before they performed ‘Silent Night’ as a thank you for visiting us

We have many talents at Lawley Academy but this one gathered a crowd today at break time!! In 1minute 20seconds, Fliss from Y5 solved a rubix cube effortlessly! WOW!

This afternoon, Year 3 and the eco council went on a litter pick through school grounds. Year 3 are learning about animal homes in science and how we can make our school environment more inviting to wildlife, whilst eco council are starting a “big clean up” initiative in school! An incredibly successful afternoon. Huge thank you to Lindsey at BVT in Lawley Village for supporting us by applying for a community grant to purchase a full litter picking resource set.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
We are very proud of Charlie and Isabelle who represented our school and laid a wreath at Lawley's Remembrance Service today. They did everyone at Lawley so proud and looked so smart in their uniforms.

This morning, all children took part in a two minute silence in classes for Remembrance day. Willow class also walked over to Lawley War Memorial to lay a remembrance wreath to mark today’s date. They planned a special message together and took time to read the names at the memorial. This Sunday there will be a community Remembrance wreath laying ceremony at the memorial.

Our Forest school club created some fantastic poppy crosses on Monday using sticks and red wool to bind them together in a cross formation. They’re having a wonderful time every week in club using the forest school area. Well done to all involved! This after school club will be continuing after Christmas so make sure you get signed up for more information.

Year 3 have had the most amazing day today at Outback2Basics, immersing themselves in Stone Age life. They've explored tools, weapons, skins and furs and even done open fire cooking and shelter building. They represented our school wonderfully and made Miss Tanner very proud. Well done Year 3!

On Wednesday, our Y5 & 6 girls managed another victory in a football game, winning 3-0 against Coalbrookdale School! They all played amazing, well done girls and keep up the good work ⚽️

Year 2 have had a brilliant afternoon creating their very own Pudding Lane! They used their knowledge of what London was like back in 1666 to recreate the narrow street and then talked lots about how the crowded streets with wooden houses would make the fire spread quickly!
Amazing job today Year 2!

Photos from Lawley Village Primary Academy's post 12/10/2022

We had lots of children with happy faces and multi-coloured clothes after yesterday's Colour Run. Thank you so much to all the parents for your support and to all the amazing children for joining in.

Congratulations to our 5 & 6 girls who won their first match 4-2 last night. They were all brilliant ⚽️

Today, Willow class wrote a set of instructions for Miss Tanner on how to make a jam sandwich. Miss Tanner followed their instructions exactly, which more often that not led to some very interesting versions of jam a sandwich. Year 3 self-evaluated their writing and now know that their instructions need to be specific and clear to ensure a successful outcome. They will continue their work on instruction writing over the next two weeks in English lessons!

Our Year 5 children have arrived at Stokeshay Castle and are ready to further develop their knowledge of Tudor times.

Fun, games, food and a fun netball tournament to watch too! Sunday 4th September 10-4 at Charlton school!

After visiting Lawley village festival back in july, I really first heard about Little 6 year old Dulcie, I watched her mom break down after thanking everyone for there donations at the festival, as a mom of a 6 year old my myself I was in bits, I spend the rest of the day thinking about what I could do to help this beautiful little girl and her family get her the treatment she so desperately needs.
So with my love of Netbal and all the lovely people I have met playing this sport for the last 10 year I decided to set up this tournament 🙌
Never having ever done anything like this before, it’s definitely been a journey and I will continue in anyway I can to help fund raise for Dulcie till she gets enough to have her treatment, so PLEASE come along to the funday, watch some awesome netball, buy a burger, cake & sweets, bring your kids get them on the bouncy castle, get there face painted, buy and ice cream, have a go on the tombola ha ha all funds go to Dulcie

Wow! We have a world number 8 BMX rider in our midst! Huge congratulations to Harry Bailey, who has just left our year 6 class, for an amazing achievement! Well done Harry - we’re all very proud of you!

What a fabulous day we’ve had for our sparkle day! So good to see parents in to share in their child’s work and join us at our summer fayre (even if the heat did stop some of the plans!)
Thanks for all your support as always, I’ll be sad to say goodbye to you all tomorrow 😢
Mrs H xx

Year 6 we’re simply incredible this evening - what a performance of Peter Pan! I am so so proud of you all ❤️❤️

Sports day attempt 2 is tomorrow! Same arrangements as before, but please make sure that your child comes in their kit, has a hat, sun cream and water as it’s going to be hot!

Evening everyone! The children will all be moving up to their new classes tomorrow who most of our year 6s are enjoying taster days at their new schools!
Only year 4 (current) need to wear PE kits, the rest of the school is normal uniform.

We have checked the field first thing and at 10am and it is still very slippery. This, coupled with the fact that there is rain forecast between 11-2, means that I feel the most sensible decision will be to cancel our sports day today. This probably means that there will be no more rain, but the field will not be dry enough to run on or sit on.

We will be keeping everything crossed that we will be able to reschedule this event. However, due to external meetings taking place, we will be unable to do this on our planned reserve day of Friday 8th July. Our new reserve date will be MONDAY 11th JULY, 1.30pm start time. Fingers crossed this will be dry and sunny! If this is unable to go ahead due to the weather we will be unable to reschedule again as there are no other days when we do not already have things going on in school. - so please do a lot of sun dances!

Just to clarify - if your child is in Venus house, their colour is orange… not brown! The print out looks a bit brown! 😘

Due to a small gas leak in the kitchen there are no school dinners available today. Please send your child with a packed lunch.

What a wonderful afternoon at our annual colour run! Lovely to see the kids having fun and taking part! Well done to all involved! Next stop… sports day!!

This morning year 3 had a visit from red watch from Wellington fire station. They taught the children all the essentials of fire safety and even showed us the fire engine, letting us all have a go on the hose pipe. Year 3 asked and answered a range of questions and demonstrated wonderful listening skills to our visitors. Thank you to Sarah, Steve and all the team for the visit, we loved it.

Colour run today - we will be adapting due to the heat - please remember hats and water and no school bags!
