This morning we had the pleasure of welcoming Pam Spellen, Telford minister, into school to make Christingles with Willow class. The children spoke about the meaning of a Christingle and what each part symbolises. Pam led the children in prayer before they performed ‘Silent Night’ as a thank you for visiting us

This afternoon, Year 3 and the eco council went on a litter pick through school grounds. Year 3 are learning about animal homes in science and how we can make our school environment more inviting to wildlife, whilst eco council are starting a “big clean up” initiative in school! An incredibly successful afternoon. Huge thank you to Lindsey at BVT in Lawley Village for supporting us by applying for a community grant to purchase a full litter picking resource set.

Year 2 have had a brilliant afternoon creating their very own Pudding Lane! They used their knowledge of what London was like back in 1666 to recreate the narrow street and then talked lots about how the crowded streets with wooden houses would make the fire spread quickly!
Amazing job today Year 2!

Today, Willow class wrote a set of instructions for Miss Tanner on how to make a jam sandwich. Miss Tanner followed their instructions exactly, which more often that not led to some very interesting versions of jam a sandwich. Year 3 self-evaluated their writing and now know that their instructions need to be specific and clear to ensure a successful outcome. They will continue their work on instruction writing over the next two weeks in English lessons!

***SPORTS DAY CANCELLED***
We have checked the field first thing and at 10am and it is still very slippery. This, coupled with the fact that there is rain forecast between 11-2, means that I feel the most sensible decision will be to cancel our sports day today. This probably means that there will be no more rain, but the field will not be dry enough to run on or sit on.
We will be keeping everything crossed that we will be able to reschedule this event. However, due to external meetings taking place, we will be unable to do this on our planned reserve day of Friday 8th July. Our new reserve date will be MONDAY 11th JULY, 1.30pm start time. Fingers crossed this will be dry and sunny! If this is unable to go ahead due to the weather we will be unable to reschedule again as there are no other days when we do not already have things going on in school. - so please do a lot of sun dances!

Just to clarify - if your child is in Venus house, their colour is orange… not brown! The print out looks a bit brown! 😘

They taught the children all the essentials of fire safety and even showed us the fire engine, letting us all have a go on the hose pipe.
