Lawley Village Day Nursery

Toddlers 2 went for a walk and met Santa! We told santa that we'd like Dinosaurs, a bluey dancer and to come to Poland in for Christmas 🎅🎁🎄

At lunch time, one of the children asked if we could go to the park. We then decided that this afternoon we would go for a walk. Another child then said, "I've made a map for when we go for a walk". So we looked on the smart board at what a map looks like. We managed to find nursery on the map and looked at where we needed to go to get to the park. Some more of our friends then also tried to create their own maps too to show us where to go. We enjoyed a lovely walk to the park, climbing and exploring, even if we did get a little bit wet 🌳🗺️☔

Today Tweenies have been enjoying some hot chocolate while riding the polar express train, the Tweenies were greeted at the door with a golden ticket and later we will be reading the polar express book. 🚂🎅

Tweenies are all ready to take a ride on Wednesday and Thursday on the polar express with hot chocolate, biscuits and party lights. Don't forget Tweenies to come in your warm pajamas today and Thursday 🎅😊

Blue Room have been learning about Hannukah today, we coloured in some pictures and spoke about why Hannukah is celebrated. We read a lovely story called " Schmelf the Hannukah Elf" kindly brought in by one of our class mates and used our icing pens to ice the Star of David onto our biscuits. The children have loved it 🥰💙🇮🇱

One of our red room friends came back from their holiday today. They told us they went to Egypt and showed us photos from their trip. We looked at more photos of Egypt and looked at pyramids and the Egyptian flag. We then set up the tuff tray. Our friend who had been to Egypt told us what we needed. They said we needed sand, a swimming pool, a plane and then chose the animals that they saw in Egypt to add to the tray too. Some of the children tried to create their own pyramids. The children especially enjoyed the photos of our friend seeing the camels and we have all been singing our Three Kings song again from our Christmas carols ✈️🌍

We have had a very busy and exciting two days in Red Room! Yesterday and today we have had our Christmas party. We have had lots of dancing, treats and party games. Last week the children chose what games they would like to play and what party food they would like. We have enjoyed musical bumps, musical statues, musical chairs and pass the parcel. The children have been showing their best dance moves too. We have also enjoyed our party tea both days, enjoying sandwiches, sausage rolls, pombears, cucumber, strawberries, trifle and lots more!🎄🎅❄️

The children in Blue Room explored the frost in the garden this morning. One friend made tracks in the frost by moving his truck along the grass, when we looked back we could see where he had taken his truck.
And our other friends felt the crunchy cold leaves and felt the ice on their fingers. "It's cold" they said ❄️🌨️☃️

Blue Room have been busy this morning making Christmas pudding cakes. The children enjoyed smelling the melted chocolate and mixing the rice crispies in until they turned brown. Whilst we waited for them to set, we made our icing and got our sprinkles ready to decorate. We added two red smarties as the cherries and used green sprinkles for the holly 🎄🥰

This morning, red room have been exploring a Christmas tree tuff tray. The children chose different materials and colours to use to decorate the Christmas tree.

The children have also shown a lot of interest in the Nativity story these last few weeks. Today we have been making chocolate manger cakes, using a jelly baby for baby Jesus 🎄🎅

The children in Tweenies have been making their very own Christmas wrapping paper. The children enjoyed using different tools to create different marks on the paper.
As the children made the marks we spoke about the colours they were using and the different techniques they used.
The children showed great enjoyment in taking part and we're proud of their creation.

Toddlers 2 have enjoyed afternoon hot chocolate with cream and marshmellows☕
The children enjoyed adding their own marshmellows and saying "more please"
A little boy kept saying "nice" and "yummy" as he was drinking his chocolate.

Red room friends have had a wonderful time enjoying their Christmas dinner today. Some of the children said how excited they were and we sang some of our favourite Christmas songs whilst waiting for dinner to arrive. This afternoon and tomorrow we will be having lots of fun at our Christmas party, with dancing and lots of party games 🎅🎄

Toddler 1- Today we had our Christmas dinner one little girl said' that dinner was yummy'.
Last week the children enjoyed making their own party hats and Christmas table names.

This morning in Tweenies, we had lots of fun looking at the snow that was on our playground. So this afternoon we found lots of big cotton wool balls and had an indoor snowball fight! We had lots of fun using our amazing gross motor skills to throw the snowballs and used good language like "snowball" "throw" and "catch"! We can't wait for there to be more snow so that we can have a go at making real snowballs! ❄️❄️

Today Toddlers have enjoyed warm hot chocolate with cream and mini marshmallows as we watched a Christmas short movie. We spoke about how the chocolate is warm and sweet and how the marshmallows are squishy. We all laughed at our hot chocolate mustaches.

This morning some of the toddlers had noticed it had snowed a little bit over night. Following the children being excited about this, we made our own snow themed tuff tray. The children chose to add the sea animals to the tray, one little girl used her finger to pick up the foam and said' look I'm brushing the sharks teeth'. To enhance this we added the tooth brushes into the tray, one child said ' I had a tooth brush'.

Blue Room would like to say a massive thank you to all of our parents who showed up to watch us do our Christmas Carol's, all the children loved showing you all the hard work we have been doing over the last couple of months practicing all of our songs and learning the actions.

All the children looked amazing in their costumes and did a super job with their singing. We are very proud of them all ❤️

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our Red Room parents for coming to our Christmas Carols yesterday afternoon. We really appreciate everyone's support and we know the children loved singing all of their songs for you.

We also want to say how proud we are of all the Red Room children for their brilliant singing and all their weeks of hard work and practise.

I'm sure you'd all agree Red Room were all superstars! ⭐⭐

After showing an interest in the Gingerbread man story, Red room decided to make their own Gingerbread men. We thought about what ingredients we thought we might need. One of the children said "we need a menu", we talked about how we use a recipe to see what ingredients we need and what we need to do. The children explored creating their own faces on their gingerbread men. We have also been exploring using different mark making tools to create our own gingerbread men too🎄

This morning toddler 1 children have been exploring the loose parts in the sensory tray. The toddlers enjoyed putting the parts together and arranging their own structures. One little boy said 'look santa'.

Today we noticed that Jack frost had frozen the water outside and the tables and animals were frosty. We had lots of fun talking about hot and cold and tried breaking the ice on the floor. We also observed how the bubbles were trapped in the ice and they couldn't get out. The children used lots of descriptive words like ice, cold and frozen.

Blue Room have been busy making cakes for our Christmas Fayre this evening. The children talked about the smells of all the ingredients mixed together and said "it smells yummy".
We made our own green icing using butter and icing sugar and the children liked adding in the food colouring and watching the colour change.

Toddlers one have enjoyed playing with the coloured pasta in the shape of a Christmas tree. One little girl said it's a tree, I have a tree at home.
The children put coloured pasta on the tree to imitate tinsel.
The toddlers said the pasta is gooey, mm chocolate.

Today toddlers 2 have been exploring different foods. We have replaced the toy food in our role play area with real food and the children have shown a great interest in exploring the different colours, textures and smells. They have also been role-playing different scenarios such as washing the carrots in the sink and pouring bowls of cereal.

Toddlers 1- one of our friends had been to visit father Christmas in Snowdonia so toddlers created our own vision of the we experience, we used moon dough for the snow and jelly cubes for sledges. The children found some figures around the room to add into the play.

During the week toddlers noticed that it was frosty on their cars coming to nursery , one little girl said' my daddy had to use the window wipers to get the ice gone'. One little boy said it's cold my hands are cold. We created some ice with cars in for the toddlers to explore, the children enjoyed playing in the ice, the children used tools to get the car out of the ice.

Our Makaton sign of the week is... Merry Christmas!🎅

Toddlers 2 went for a walk over to Morrisons this morning to get some treats to put on top of our cakes. We'll be getting messy and having fun making the cakes ready for the Christmas fayre on Friday! 🎄🍰🎂

On Friday Toddlers 1 children noticed a Christmas tree being put up over the road for the local community, they were very excited by this. We went out for a walk to see the tree. One little girl said 'it's so big'. 'Oh wow' said one little boy. On our way back to nursery we saw a rainbow in the sky, 'wow' said some of the toddlers.
We came back and took part in singing some Christmas songs.

This morning some of the children in Red Room have been talking about football and the world cup. The children were predicting who they think will win. One of the children shared that they play football on the weekend. We looked at different flags and made our own flags too. We also explored a football tuff tray, using straws to blow and control where the marbles went. The children especially enjoyed shouting "Goal!" ⚽

Toddlers 2 have been starting our Christmas list for Santa! We have enjoyed pointing out what toys we like, cutting them out and sticking them down with glue. We also pointed out what toys we already have at home. A little girl pointed at a toy and said "I have this one at home!" 🎄🎁🎁

This afternoon the toddler one children said how cold it was outside, they said it was cold like snow. The staff in toddlers got the snow machine out for them during outside play. The children loved it 'wow snow'.
When we came back in to do registration when Courtney asked what the weather was doing outside one little boy said', it's been snowing'.

One of our Red Room friends brought in a Snowman story for us to read together. This morning the children have been exploring the playdough and loose parts to make their own snowman. Here are some of our creations! ☃️❄️

Blue Room have been designing our own football kits. We've looked at the different colours of each countries flags and used our imagination to make our own. We spoke about the England flag and the Welsh flag and the children were interested to see what flags from around the world looked like. They did an amazing job designing their own 🤩⚽🏆

The children in Blue Room heard a noise outside the window today, one of our friends looked out and shouted "They're putting a Christmas tree up!" The rest of us ran over to have a look, the children pointed and said "It's Christmas!" We spoke about what decorations we think are going to go on the tree and guessed if it was going to be taller than nursery 🥰🌲🎅

This week Red Room have been busy writing their letters to Santa, practising their pencil control and writing. This afternoon the children had the special task of posting our letters. First we had to go to the shop to buy some stamps! We then went to the postbox and posted our letters off to the North Pole 🎅🤶

What a busy week in Red Room! Here are a few photos of what we have been up to. The children are all very excited and have been talking about their Christmas trees and decorations at home. We have been very busy exploring lots of Christmas themed crafts and sensory play 🌲🎅

This morning some of our toddler 1 children showed interest in the trains, so we built up our very own polar express. A few of our toddlers spoke about how they had been a 'big' train before. In the flour one of our toddlers created marks and gave meanings to it ' my train', 'my mummy'. 🚆

The Tweenies are so excited to introduce you to our new friend!! We have been thinking long and hard for a name for her and decided on... Daisy!
Daisy has been welcomed to our room with lots of cuddles and kisses and has been gifted a shiny new collar that we lovingly handmade for her. We used some good language to describe Daisy, using words like "dog" "woof woof" and "fluffy". One of us was even able to tell our friends that "it's big!" We hope Daisy has as much fun in our room as we will playing with her!! 🐶♥️
