Meetings to discuss events and opportunities for the school, are every few weeks in the Iron Duke. There is no obligation to join but any contribution is very much appreciated.
We are currently planning the school disco and summer fayre but without a Chair or Secretary these won't be able to go ahead. This would be such a shame as we would love to hold these events over the coming months for our children as we know how much they love a disco and we also have lots of exciting things planned for the summer fayre.
Each event raises vital funds for the school, allowing us to provide enrichment opportunities and fun social events for the children.
Good morning! We urgently require volunteer helpers to assist with our Year 6 bikeability course tomorrow and Wednesday. If you are able to help on either day or part day, please can you email or phone the school office.

We are so incredibly proud of Robins and Otters who walked over 8 miles to Wellington Monument and back. They should all sleep well tonight πŸ™‚

We launched back into the new term with a visit from Steve Gabell from RH Fibreboard Containers Ltd in Wellington. The company, based at Chelston, make a range of cardboard containers. Steve came in and spoke to the children about the sustainability of cardboard as part of our environment week. Ask them if they can remember the 3 R's from his presentation.

He left them with cardboard and some children wrote letters to our local MP while others designed posters to promote cardboard and sustainability.

To enrich the learning across the curriculum, but especially within history, the children enjoyed a Living History day at Wildwood Escot. The children really relished seeing the wild animals that the Anglo-Saxons would have hunted and handling a range of artefacts, making bread, working in the forge and as a wood carver. They especially liked being put in the stocks!

Year one children in Woodlands worked hard to invent their new eccentric character to add to Alice in Wonderland story.

We decided our new character had to wear unusual patterns and fabulous clothes.

We used printing and resistance painting (wax crayons and water colours) to design the extraordinary outfits!

Do you like them?

KS1 children explored toys from the past to finalise their history topic this half term.

The children learnt a lot this half term about the materials the old toys were made of and why children now tend to have more toys than children in Victorian times.

We wore Victorian school uniforms whilst playing with toys from the past. We even watched and made some moving pictures - a little bit like watching telly nowadays!

Letters 18/09/2023

Dear parents and carers, Unfortunately, the local authority computer servers are having difficulty in sending through emails to anyone with a gmail.com account. This is the reason that some parents may not be receiving school emails.

Until this issue is resolved I have attached the link for the school website for you to check under the β€œparent” section for letters recently sent.

If anyone with a Gmail account has an alternative email to register with school, that would be an instant solution.

It has been so lovely to welcome the children back to school this week. They have done incredibly well settling in to the routines and managing all the changes in this very hot weather!
We are very proud of them.

οΏΌA special welcome to all our wonderful reception children and to our new pupils who have joined in other year groups.

I know the Beech Grove community will make you all feel very welcome. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Thank you to everyone who joined our summer music concert this afternoon.

I am sure you will agree, the children were incredible and the standard of music was high.

Such a lot of talent at Beech Grove!

Hedgehogs, Ducks, Seals, Foxes and Badgers had a fantastic time with Andrew and Jake from SASP (Somerset activity & sports partnership).

They learnt skills related to batting and bowling in cricket and put these into practice during a variety of different activities.

The children demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and did us proud!

Year 1 trip to Fyne Court was an excellent experience, despite the rain.
The children used their field work skills to survey the local environment whilst having heaps of fun!
We found a lot more creatures in the pond than we had anticipated - including a newt! Sketching of the landmarks helped us to find out way back to the cafe.
We also loved the equipment we borrowed from National Trust that helped us with the bug hunting. We loved cloud watching in the sky glade, the bug hotel and the musical instruments.
Thanks to the educational team at Fyne Court, our teachers and admin team for organising the trip. And thank you to the parents for funding the bus and the equipment hire - a worthy experience for all the children!

Dear parents

We are aware of some suspicious behaviour from a group of men in Wellington Park and the nearby areas.

It is alleged that they are taking photos of the children. This is understandably causing concern within the community.

We have liaised with the police and will continue to act on their advice. Please report any incidents of concern to the school office and to the police as soon as possible. We have requested a police presence at key times of the day.

We will be leading an assembly with the children about general safety, when out and about

Thank you for remaining vigilant so that we can keep the children of Wellington safe.

Best wishes

What a successful sports day!

The children had a fantastic day. We started off at the field completing a carousel of activities. The whole school impressed us with their collaboration and kindness to one another within their houses. It was wonderful to have many adults join us in the afternoon for the races. The children impressed us with their resilience and sportsmanship.

The winning house overall (from the carousel and races) will be announced on Monday 3rd July during our whole school celebration assembly.

Thank you to all those who supported the day, including the staff who organised the event, Mr Parsons and Mr Butler.

A huge thank you must also go to Mrs Kovacs for giving up the best part of the whole day, free of charge, to take photos for us and to Bouncy Bears for providing much needed ice lollies.

We are so grateful!

Year 2 have had a day full of fun at Fyne Court today and became real life geographers! We took part in a range of activities to support our fieldwork in practice unit for Geography.

We had an excellent time pond dipping where we found a range of pond insects and even some newts! We also had fun in the woods bug hunting and using our nets to catch them! Finally, we were eager to explore more of Fyne Court so went on a walk and found lots of exciting things to draw.

Our teachers were very impressed with how well we represented Beech Grove and are very proud of us πŸ˜„

What an amazing day we have had!

Our Reception children have had a marvellous day at Court Farm! We saw so many animals and different parts of the farm.

Jodie the cow was milked, and we were all given the chance to feed the lambs. They were so eager to get as much milk as possible! We could see how various farm animals change from babies to adults. The cheeky goat even tried nibbling Farmer Sam's jumper!

Can you guess who is the cleanest animal on the farm? The pigs!

But the highlight had to be the tractor ride - it was so bumpy and great fun!

Both the staff and other visitors to the farm commented on the behaviour and marvellous listening skills of the children.

Well done - we are really proud of you!
