Kineton Green Music

Seems like a lifetime ago since we celebrated the continuing evolvement of musical talent amongst our Kineton Green Music pupils at St Bernard's Road Priory Church Hall just a week before lockdown first started. We have not been idle in the intervening twelve months. Our pupils have worked hard at their online lessons. Although exams have been frustratingly cancelled, everyone has moved forward at their own pace, experiencing a range of new music which they may not otherwise have tackled. With the hope of lockdown easement looming on the horizon, we are planning a phased return to face to face teaching for those who wish to be taught in that fashion. Anyone who would like to start or return to lessons either for themselves or their children, please get in touch.

Despite the new restrictions, we are continuing to work hard supporting our pupils in their musical endeavours. If you would like theory or practical lessons in piano, violin or flute, please contact us. We work with Skype, zoom and facetime.

This lock down is teaching us all new skills. If you have access to a phone, ipad or laptop, you can still receive a music lesson via Skype or Zoom. As teachers, we are developing our communication skills and trying our best to ensure each pupil receives a style of teaching which is appropriate to them, whatever their age and ability. It's a joy to see how everyone is continuing to learn and engage. Kineton Green Music

Anyone feeling a little cooped up and needs a hobby or something to keep them entertained, we are offering Skype music lessons to all existing and non existing pupils. We offer piano, flute, violin and theory lessons. All you need is a phone and an instrument! Lessons are £13/half hour. DM us for more details.

A huge "well done" to all our pupils, who performed so brilliantly at our annual concert in Olton Friary's hall yesterday afternoon. So many happy faces from players and their families. A huge thank you as well to Kath Knight who produced an amazing gingerbread piano and lots of homemade cakes. Much appreciated!

With summer holidays almost over, thoughts may be turning to learning a new instrument. We have vacancies for adults and children who wish to learn piano, violin, flute or theory in a friendly, family environment. Contact us for more details.

Today is the last day of ABRSM exam week for Kineton Green Music here in Solihull. We've had several pupils taking both violin and piano exams from Grade 1 to Grade 8 and we wish them every success in their endeavours. So much hard work goes into preparing for an exam both for the candidate and their families. Once exams are over things can feel a little flat but we have lots of fun music to fill in the gaps from Handel to John Williams' Star Wars. We're looking forward to lots of joyful sounds in the future.

Everyone enjoyed the wonderful concert held on 5th March. There was a wide variety of instruments and styles of music. All our pupils worked so hard and their performances were memorable. Kathryn is now busy putting together a DVD of the afternoon which will be available to families around April.

Four days to go until our annual concert next Sunday 5 March at 3pm at the Olton United Reform Church Hall. We're looking forward to hearing all our pupils perform. Attendance is free but we should welcome donations to help cover the cost of hiring the hall. Refreshments will be available after the concert.

In the dark and cold of winter we are lightening the gloom with lots of fun blues and rock-style pieces alongside the mood-enhancing classical stalwarts. It's always good to discover new composers to give a fresh view of something well known.

Several of our pupils are working hard preparing for exams, both piano and violin. The closing date for entries is Friday 20th Janaury. It's likely the Solihull ABRSM exam venue will change this year as the Tudor Court Hotel has closed.

The beginning of the new school year is the perfect time to think about starting to learn an instrument or even take up another. The ABRSM recently published the new piano and violin curriculum for 2017/8 and we're enjoying going through the pieces with our pupils to choose what they might like to learn.We're also planning some exiciting group events for our next concert in February both singing and instrumental.
