Dear Parents and Carers,
We have been monitoring the weather throughout the evening and will be following our adverse weather policy as it will be treacherous conditions for staff and children travelling to nursery.
We will be opening the nursery at 9am. We will be monitoring the weather throughout the day. If weather does not improve we will be closing at 4pm but we will keep you all updated.
Thank you for your cooperation during this time
🌨 Happy Sunday Snow Day! 🌨 We would love to see your 📸 Snow Day snaps 📸! ❄☃️❄
I am sure that many of you will have been following the news about early years settings opening. We only get information at the same time as everyone else via the news.
As a nursery, we have to follow Government about opening and therefore the nursery will be open to all children from tomorrow Tuesday 5th January 2021
We will continue to do everything we can to ensure that both children and staff are kept safe and well during these challenging times.
We would again ask parents and carers to respect the measures the nursery has put in place including 2m distance and queuing outside using the floor markings, being patient for staff to get to you on all arrivals and handovers, wearing masks and socially distancing at all times.
Thank you all for your on going support.
We would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Inline with government guidelines, we shall be opening as normal on the 4th. We already have bubble groups in place for staff and children. The staff will be wearing PPE where appropriate, and additional deep cleaning routines will be continued.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our parents and carers for all the support you have given us as a nursery this year. Thank you for all the lovely gifts we have recieved they have been lovely! From everyone at Honey Pot we wish you all have the best Christmas and we will see you all in the New Year.
Father Christmas has been to Knowle and Shirley to wish the children a socially distanced Merry Christmas. It looks like all the children were on the 'Nice List' this year. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
PS. Don't forget to leave out some carrots for my reindeer.
Thanks to all the Parents, Carers and grandparents for coming to see the children sing their Christmas songs at Knowle. Due to the restrictions we had to be outside this year, so we are even more grateful for you all coming along. The children did so well. We would like to thank everyone for your support during the year. Wishing you all happy Christmas and a great new year. From Parm, Ann and all the staff at Knowle.
Note. There will be pictures and video of the children on Tapestry

Special thanks to Wendy, Mary and Geeta who have been with us for a long time and helped make Honey Pot House the great place it is now.

Hope to see you soon and don't eat your eggs all at once!
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that today we have to close Honey Pot Shirley until further notice.
We have tried to stay open for as long as possible but under the circumstances we feel the safety of the children, parents and staff come first. We are hoping we will be back to normal sooner rather than later. We are very upset it has come to this and will miss all the children greatly.
Please everyone follow the guidelines the government are setting as the quicker we do this the quicker we can get back to normal.
We are updating tapestry every day for you with activities and stories for the children. Please upload any activities and fun things the children are doing with you at home.
Stay Safe Everyone and See you all soon
The Honey Pot Team.
To confirm that on Friday evening we will be closing Knowle branch for a while. Shirley will remain open for children of key workers. Key workers from knowle are welcome to bring their children to Shirley. As Knowle will be closed please either email or phone Shirley 0121 744 3180 if you need to contact.
Please remember that anyone who has children who may be showing any symptoms must keep their children away as we need to keep the nursery open.
A big thanks for the staff for hanging in with us. We will try to share the workload so everyone can get some work .
Guidance for schools, colleges and local authorities on maintaining educational provision
In the early hours the key worker list was published. If you feel you are on the list please ring or email the nursery to let us know as soon as possible.
An update - Tomorrow we should have the key worker list published. Hopefully we will have answers for you all. Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time.
Health secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed that the list of key workers will be not be published until tomorrow (Friday 20 March) on today's episode of BBC Question Time.
The Alliance is incredibly concerned about the impact this will have on providers' ability to prepare for the huge changes coming in next week.
Commenting, Neil Leitch, chief executive of the Early Years Alliance, said:
"We know that these are incredibly challenging times - but nurseries, pre-schools and childminders across the country are already being asked to make huge changes to their businesses at incredibly short notice. To delay confirming who exactly will be able to access childcare as of Monday will make an already difficult task near-impossible.
"Providers need to know how many children may be accessing places at their settings to be able to make any kind of plan to continuing delivering childcare next week. This means not only a clear, official definition of 'key workers' but also, confirmation on whether both parents need to meet this definition or just one.
"The government has long warned that school and childcare closures could form part of their coronavirus action plans, so we are baffled as why to it is not better prepared for this situation.
"There can be no more delays. Government must publish this information as a matter of urgency to give childcare providers a fighting chance to prepare for the monumental changes they will face in just a few days' time."
We will continue to keep you updated, and will share any more information as we have it.
In light of yesterday's announcement we are expecting we have to close on Friday. A number of children attending have parents who are key workers. We will be in contact with Solihull MBC today to see if we can remain open for those children. We will update you as soon as we have any news.
Please let us know if you feel that you fall into the category of key worker.
At Honey Pot House we will be taking part in celebrating World Book Day.
World Book day was started by UNESCO in 1995 & is an annual celebration to help ensure every child has access to books.
All week we will be celebrating World Book Day. All children can come to nursery with their favourite books to share with their group also they can dress up from characters out of their chosen book.
Staff from Shirley and Knowle attended an inhouse Makaton training course on Saturday. The staff learnt new signs to communicate with children and adults which we will be implementing through out the nursery.
What is Makaton?
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.
Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life. Almost everything we do involves communication; everyday tasks such as learning at school, asking for food and drink, sorting out problems, making friends and having fun. These all rely on our ability to communicate with each other.
