Private tutoring with Becki Goulding

Hi, my name is Becki and I am a primary school teacher. I qualified to become a teacher in 2013 and since then have worked in three school settings, teaching children from Reception through to Year 6. I am now a part-time teacher whilst spending my other days of the week at home looking after my family. I am friendly, approachable and patient and I love helping children to achieve their full potential by building their confidence and helping them to enjoy learning.

I have been a primary school teacher for 9 years, working in Solihull and Warwick schools. I have worked across Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, with the majority of my teaching being in infants. I have experience of working in both SATs years and I am now working in Year 4 whilst tutoring a range of ages in the primary phase. Following the pandemic, I have also led intervention groups, working to close gaps with small groups of children in phonics, writing and maths.

My approach to tutoring involves being adaptable to your child's needs and learning from their classroom. I aim to build confidence by teaching concepts that are tricky with resources, good modelling and practising examples together before completing tasks independently. I keep a record of all independent work to help me plan my next sessions and I make observations throughout each session to make decisions about how and when to adapt the activities. I ask pupils questions about their learning in the classroom to mirror strategies where possible, and to identify where children feel they are struggling so that these can be the areas to focus on.
