On Thursday, J3 pupils enjoyed a Forest School session linked to the book they are studying - Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom'.

The children collected water, built shelters and learnt how to light fires. For food, the pupils ate stinging nettles and stinging nettle pakoras with dandelion dipping sauce, and made s'mores with marshmallows foraged from the very rare 'Mallow of the Marsh' tree!

The lesson helped the pupils understand what Michael would have had to do to survive when he found himself marooned on a desert island.

We are pleased to announce that Solihull School will take on the full legal ownership of the DayCare at Saint Martin’s organisation with effect from 1 September 2024 to create Solihull Day Care.

We will rebrand DayCare at Saint Martin’s to Solihull Day Care as Mrs Sarah Charles, who has been the founding director of DayCare at Saint Martin’s since its inception as a joint venture partnership with Saint Martin’s School, has decided to step down to pursue other interests.

Mr Fillingham our Executive Headmaster commented: “The school is hugely indebted to Mrs Charles for the vision and energy with which she has created such a vibrant and successful operation.

“Mrs Charles will stay on in a consultancy role for the initial 12 months of the new operation and we are looking forward to working with her and the rest of the DayCare team and continuing the amazing work they do.”

DayCare at Saint Martin’s is located next to the Park Avenue car park on Solihull Preparatory School’s Saint Martin’s campus.

Solihull School has recently received a glowing ISI Inspection and has been shortlisted in the Senior School of the Year category of the TES Schools Awards 2024.
