Hi all, apologies but Forest School is cancelled tomorrow for class 2 because of the extreme weather. Hopefully Spring is just around the corner!

School will be closed again tomorrow (Tuesday 12th December) due to the snow and temperatures dropping again overnight.

School will be closed Monday 11th December due to the snow and the temperature not rising about 0 degrees.

Good evening all, we hope you have had a lovely weekend in this glorious sunshine! The forecast is that the good weather will continue, at least for a few days this week. Please can you ensure you child has sun cream/protection applied before they come to school, and have a sunhat and water bottle with them in school. If you wish to send additional sun cream, please make sure that it is named and easy for your child to apply independently (such as a roll on). It would also be a good idea to have P.E. kit in school every day for the next few weeks - we will be making the most of the sunshine whilst it lasts! Thanks, Theresa.

Sorry for the late notice, but could class 1 children (morning group) please bring wellies for tomorrow morning? I want to go on a walk with the class, weather permitting, and when I checked after school the place is quite muddy. No need for a change of clothes - tree climbing is not involved! Thank you in advance, Theresa.

Well done Team Norton. Winning the small schools trophy at the North Shropshire Swimming Gala for the 8th consecutive year!! All swimmers swam their hardest and did us proud. Matthew & Noah now go on to represent North Shropshire.

The school raised a wonderful £211 at the Village Festival yesterday! Thank you to Hilary, Donna, Suzanne and the children in the school council for all your help with our stalls and to the parents for your donations. Fantastic effort!

Come on down to the Village Fair! There is lots going on!

Could I ask the parents of children in class 3 to return their Chester Zoo slip as soon as possible to allow me to calculate costs. Many thanks. Mrs Harris

Hi, just a reminder that there is no Forest School tomorrow as we are continuing with our Growth Mindset Week.

Hi all - we hope you are enjoying the last of the Easter break! We know some children aren't sure what to dress up as for the start of our growth mind set week on Tuesday. We are happy for them to dress as someone or something that inspires them if they haven't got their career path sorted out yet! It might be a famous person, or it might be someone they know if they don't know what 'job' they want to do - someone they look up to. Or it could be a hobby they're interested in - if they like singing, they might want to dress up as a singer, or if they like football, they could wear their football kit. I hope this helps! Theresa x

A reminder that next week is our Growth Mindset Week. To start the week we would like all children to come to school on Tuesday 25th April dressed as the profession they would like to be when they are older e.g. doctor, nurse, footballer, ballet dancer. We will then be looking at the skills that will be needed in order to achieve their goals. We look forward to seeing and discussing the children's ambitions.

Many thanks to those that came along and supported the coffee morning this morning. We raised £51.82 😊

We made a fantastic £62 in our cake sale for Red Nose Day! The children in class 2 did a fantastic job baking and decorating cakes and running the stall throughout lunchtime. Also a big thank you to all of the parents who brought in cakes for us to sell.
Miss Derham

Hi all, just to clear up any confusion - there is Forest School tomorrow. The groups going are the Y6/some Y5 group; the Reception children; and the Year 2 group. Please make sure your children have the appropriate clothing tomorrow. I hope this helps, thanks, Theresa.

Don't forget Class 2 are having a Red Nose Day cake sale tomorrow! Cakes and biscuits will be 50p each. If you fancy baking any cakes for our sale, please bring them to class 2 tomorrow morning. Thank you!

As part of our Red Nose Day fundraising, Class 2 will be holding a cake sale on Friday 24th March! The children will be running the sale, including baking cakes and biscuits on Friday morning. We will be selling the cakes at lunchtime for the children and if we have any cakes left, we will continue selling them at home time. Cakes and biscuits will be 50p with all of the money going to Red Nose Day. If you fancy baking cakes at home this week, any contributions will be greatly welcome!
Look out for the children's posters around school for more information about our cake sale!
Miss Derham

Hi everyone. The reception children will be making Elmer the elephant on Wednesday. If you empty a plastic milk carton (any size) between now and then, please can you wash it out and bring it into class 1? I'd like the lids on still, please. Thanks ever so much, Theresa.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be re-organising some of class 1's resources, especially our 'small world' items. We are particularly trying to build up collections of fairies, dragons, knights, kings and queens for a fantasy box. We are also interested in making a superheroes collection, and our small doll (barbie sized) box is also looking a bit depleted! Finally, I would like to build up a collection of soft toys for forest school related activities - native to Britain if possible. Birds, squirrels, rabbits, badgers, foxes, mice, etc would all fit into that category. I would be very grateful for any donations, it would be most appreciated! Thanks, Theresa.

I've had some lovely feedback to the photos that were sent home showing the class 3 children taking part in the various activities on Chinese New Year Day last week. I was very impressed with how many children handled the tarantula! If you would like a digital copy of any of the photos sent home that show just your child, please let me know (and give me your email address) and I'll forward them onto you.
Mrs Harris

Hi everyone. The weather forecast has changed slightly, and it looks like we may be able to run Forest School tomorrow as long as the wind isn't too strong. This week's groups will still need woods clothes, and I will make a decision in the morning when I visit the site. Theresa x

The water supply is fully restored and working and so we will be open tomorrow - Tuesday 24th January.

Unfortunately due to no water supply the school is closed today - Monday 23rd January.

An urgent appeal! I need 6/8 soft toy dogs for tomorrow's maths lesson! If anyone has one you don't mind us using, can you please send it into class 1 in the morning? Many thanks, Theresa x

Hi everyone, Forest School will be going ahead tomorrow, weather permitting, but it will be very cold! Please make sure your child has lots of layers on, including a waterproof coat, hat and gloves as well if you have them. Wellies will probably be the best footwear, as it will be soggy underfoot. Thanks everyone, Theresa.

Hi all, sorry if I gave the wrong info to some reception parents tonight - it is actually Year 1 in the woods tomorrow, not reception. Apologies! (It's also younger group of class 4 and years 3 and 4 from class 2 in other sessions tomorrow.) This will be the last Forest School day before Christmas. New dates for each group will be sent out in the New Year. Thanks, Theresa x

Well done to all of Key Stage 1 for their wonderful Christmas play tonight!! They all did a brilliant job with their lines and all of the songs. Miss Derham

Hi all. Tomorrow we are taking the children up to the village hall for a dress rehearsal in the afternoon. Please pick up from there at 3pm. They will come home in their costumes, and please bring them back in their costumes for 5.50pm to the hall. If you can hang onto their coats in the performance that would be great! The older children are coming to watch our afternoon rehearsal, so all children will be going home from the village hall. If they are in after school club, we will walk them back to school.
Many thanks, Theresa

Today the children in class 3 made ❄️snow slime❄️. Great fun had by all! All children listened really well to the instructions and followed them to the letter 🙂 Tomorrow the children will put their memories and experience to the test and will create their own snow slime recipes.

Please can all costumes for the KS1 Christmas Play be brought into school tomorrow? Can they be in plastic bags with names clearly visible. Thank you!
Miss Derham and Mrs Buckley

Just a quick reminder - the Year 1 children will be going to Forest School today (Monday 5th December) and will need to come in their woods clothes and bring their uniform in a bag. Lots of layers please, it will be cold! This is for Year 1 children only. Thanks, Theresa

Our Christmas Fair takes place On Friday 2nd December from 5pm – 7pm at the school. There will be lots of stalls ranging from Christmas gifts and tombola to sweets and cakes as well as the opportunity to take part in the Grand Hamper raffle. There will be plenty of gorgeous food and drink including non-alcoholic mulled wine, hot chocolate with marshmallows, jacket potatoes with chilli or beans and burgers and sausages.

We hope to see many members of the community coming along and enjoy the Christmas festivities 🎄

Hi all, this might be a bit late, but if anyone is decorating pumpkins at the moment for Halloween, please can you save the seeds for class one - we would love to have them tomorrow for our investigation work. We don't mind if they still have the gloopy stuff on them! Thanks, Theresa

As part of our National Poetry Day celebrations, the children in class 3 were asked to learn a poem to recite to the class. We listened to the poems today and I was incredibly impressed with how many children knew their poem off by heart and clearly and confidently recited them in front of their peers. Well done class 3! 👍🏻👏🏼
Mrs Harris

Class 1 will be looking at farm vehicles next week. If anyone has a toy tractor, combine harvester, trailer, etc, please can we have it in class to look at?Thank you. Also, if any lovely farmer people could bring a tractor down to school so we can have a look at a real one, that would be fabulous! We will be making model tractors, so if you have cardboard boxes, lids for wheels, etc for our junk box, they will be gratefully received. Thanks, Theresa.
