As part of our 5th PSHE day, we held our annual Careers Fair in the Stanier Hall on Friday. The Careers Fair was open to all students from Year 7 to Year 13.

We had over 20 exhibitors attending including the Army, NHS, Royal Navy, Airbus, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, HSBC, Lanyon Bowdler and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. We also had representatives from local universities, colleges, training and apprenticeship providers.

Over the course of the day, 1200 students had the opportunity to speak to different companies about the skills, qualifications and experience they would need to be successful in these particular careers. A popular highlight included a Paramedic training ambulance courtesy of Keele University.

The main purpose of the careers fair was to provide students with valuable insights into various career options, industries and educational pathways. This event is designed to help students make informed decisions about their future education and career choices.

The visitors commented on how well behaved all students were with everyone engaging and asking lots of questions.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this event.

Mr Wust and Mrs Jones visited Aico in Oswestry with a class of Business Studies Year 10 students. They had a tour of the warehouse and financial offices before taking part in an Operation Management Workshop. Students had to create a product, market it, create a warehouse design to distribute it and then present their ideas in the presentation suite. There were some great ideas and fantastic presentations. Everyone had a great day and took a lot away about running a real business.

⭐️ STUDENT SPOTLIGHT ⭐️

Amelia has been dancing with Impact since 2018, achieving consistently high grades in examinations, placing her amongst our most advanced students within the studio. Amelia achieved a high Merit in her Grade 5 Ballet exam last year, resulting in attaining Student Membership of the Associated Board of Dance.

Our dancers perform twice annually with SSPA Events Gotta Dance shows, in which this year, Amelia performed as lead soloist for our Senior Ballet group routine "All I Ask of You", along with an additional group Contemporary routine.

The first of the shows this year was Monday 11th March at Theatre Severn, and is followed by Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock on Monday 15th April. We are incredibly proud of Amelia and her achievements within the studio and on stage. She is truly a pleasure to teach, to direct and to watch perform."

Students had the opportunity to attend the International Women's Day event at Wem Town Hall on Friday. Thomas Adams School had an exhibition stand put together by our History Club and Computer Science students. The Computer Science students were demonstrating coding to the public and our History Club produced a display promoting women of historical importance from Shropshire.

Students were able to walk around a number of exhibition stalls and stop at each of the stands to see what activity they have. They had the opportunity to talk to business owners and find out lots of information, watch performers and listen to speakers.

Let's Count! The ADA group and school council are taking part in The Big Plastic Count from 11th - 17th March. We would love as many people to take part as possible to raise awareness of our plastic footprint. For one week, you need to count (almost!) every single piece of plastic packaging waste that you throw away - that's plastic waste that you put in the bin and plastic you put in the recycling. Try to count anything you throw away while out and about too.

For more information and a tally sheet to take part can be found by visiting https://thebigplasticcount.com/
