Mousecroft Pool Fishery Update:

On Wednesday 13th May Phase 3 of planned work will commence on Mousecroft Pool. This was due to take place in March, but with the Corona Virus situation it had to be delayed. Permission has been given by Shrewsbury Town Council and the Police to proceed.
The works will in the main involve the cleaning out of the right hand bank/ corner and rebuilding the bank with clay to reseal it. We shall also be installing an new stone footpath along the front of the pool and french drainage from this path fishbone style into the pool. This will further help retain the water level of which is important for the fish and fishing.
The works will,at the most, last for 14 days.
The Contractor will be operating under Government Guidelines.

We would ask Members of the Public to wherever possible keep clear from the Pool whilst we complete the work.

I understand this may clash with the possibility of the Government allowing the fishing restriction being lifted due to Corona Virus. The work was already planned and the Government Guideline to fishing has of yet not been clarified. Fishing also has to be given the approval to go ahead by Shrewsbury Town Council.
I hope all Anglers understand as so much time to get works completed has gone this year and that we need to get this job done to be able to move on to the next. This phase will further improve Mousecroft Fishery for everyone.

Sad News:

Local Angler Barry Archer sadly has passed over, whom gave a great deal to local angling and has help install some fantastic pegs across Shrewsbury Town Fisheries waters. Which has given anglers both safety and pleasurable platform for both the past, present and future fishing locally.

Barry also installed and run Dorset Pools, which helped coach youths and encourage our sport beyond for those in need and the future generations πŸ‘πŸ»

Well Done Barry for all what you have given to angling, while your legacy will live on and admirable to future generations πŸ‘πŸ»

Condolences to your family at this time πŸ‘πŸ»

Powerful.

If ever a photo so vividly illustrates the damage humans are inflicting on the natural world.... please think before you buy anything in plastic, do you need it ? if you do please dispose of it carefully. Wherever I go now, whether it be in the mountains, on the moors or on the coast there is discarded plastic everywhere. The Government haven't a clue, by the time they act it will be too late, they are going to ban wipes and cotton buds within the next 20 years !!!! It's up to us as consumers to act now, enough is enough, plastic will destroy the world and its wildlife. Please note it's not my image, it's from National Geographic.
Please do share.

Spring is coming
Soon to arrive.
Fowls to their nests
And bees to their hives.
Birds serenading
With their odes.
Common carp
And loads of roach.
Twirling dragonflies
Flowers in bloom.
The sun will return.
Spring’s coming soon.
