Shrewsbury Karate - Shushokan

Shrewsbury Karate - Shushokan

Morning everybody,

We have received updates from our governing bodies the EKF & WKGB that our dojo’s will remain open and we can continue to train together safely.

This is due to our strict 2m distancing before, during and after class, hand sanitising stations, one way flow of students and our other covid-safe practises.

These systems have worked great during the last two weeks and our dojo’s are a safe, great place to practise karate together.

Thanks everyone for your efforts in supporting these required protocols.

If things change we will update you immediately.

SSKO Sensei’s
"Perfect! Even better than school, actually far better than school" Paris just returned from his first face to face karate session and rated the Covid-secure experience as absolutely perfect! 👏👏👏👏

Thank you Shushokan - you rock!
They alll look fit and healthy
Well done to everyone today.... x

Congratulations to our Junior students, new belts achieved!!
Brilliant 🤩👏🏻👏🏻🥋

Hi folks,

With the complete relaxing of Covid regulations in England now happening we ask that you still apply common sense to keep or dojo’s and it’s members safe.

Do this by:

- not attending / sending your child to class if unwell

- not attending / sending your child to class if showing Covid symptoms

- if confirmed Covid case in the household - ALL MEMBERS of household do not attend dojo til everybody is all clear.

Missed lessons can be caught up over future weeks by attending double sessions etc.

Stay safe everybody

Louise Vaughan
Alan Turner

An update from the English Karate Federation - our Governing Body

Dear Heads of Association

I am sure you will have all seen the latest government announcement
regarding the new lockdown measures which restrict social gatherings to
a maximum of 6 people.

However, organised Team Sport can continue under the specific guidance
of their National Governing Bodies. Therefore, organised Karate can
continue as we are deemed a 'team' sport.

All EKF clubs are expected to abide by the 'return to training' guidance

Shushokan is following all the appropriate Governing Body guidance and as such our Dojo’s will remain open.

When you come to club please make sure you’re aware of our do’s & don’ts and we look forward to seeing you and training together.

SSKO Sensei’s

Hopefully you should of all received a text regarding back to live lessons this week.
If you are returning but have not got your info text, please message me directly.

Sensei Lou

Association Member Update:

Hi everyone, we hope you are well and life is in some ways at least returning to a "new normal" as the world continues to deal with the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In terms of Karate it's kind of a mixed bag in terms of where we are:

Pontesbury Dojo

The School is not hiring the venue currently and has no plan to do so during September.

Pontesbury Members - do you know of any possible alternative venues? Please get involved and aid Sensei Lou to get YOUR dojo back up running.

Ludlow Dojo

Will re-open for live classes on Monday 7th September at the Elim Church Ludlow.

Builth Wells Dojo

The Jubilee Hall has not re-opened yet, the people that manage the hall are going through the government guidelines that effect them but there is no immediate sign of re-opening.

Builth Dojo Members - do you know of any possible alternative venues? Please get involved and aid Sensei Lou to get YOUR dojo back up running.

Brecon Dojo

The Freedom Leisure have chosen not to hire to Clubs as they re-opened, focussing only on their own activities. Despite exhaustive efforts to find an alternative venue we have had no joy.

Options now are

1) Look for a venue in a surrounding village / town which will mean a short journey for members.

2) Move the Club temporarily to a Wednesday evening - there was greater hall availability on a Weds.

Brecon members let me know what you think.

Bromyard Dojo

Will re-open for live classes on Weds 9th September at the Public Hall in Bromyard. *This a temporary venue as The Bromyard Centre is closed due to vandalism

Llandrindod Wells

Sensei Alan will not be re-opening the Dojo until training can can return to normal practise post Covid-19 restrictions.

Lantern Dojo

The Lantern has not started hiring to clubs yet, the people that manage the hall are going through the government guidelines that effect them but there is no immediate sign of re-opening.

Lantern Dojo Members - do you know of any possible alternative venues? Please get involved and aid Sensei Lou to get YOUR dojo back up running.

Monmouth Dojo

Will re-open for live classes on Thursday 10th September at Bridges.

Hereford Dojo

Will re-open for live classes on Friday 11th September at Hinton Community Centre Gym.

As you can see times are challenging to get things back up and running.

What we need from you, the members, is up to date contact information so as we can set up amended groups / classes / timetables and inform you to comply with track & trace requirements.

Can you please contact your Sensei by text or email to give the following information:

1) Name of Student

2) Dojo

3) Will or Won't be returning to class

4) A current email address

5) A current contact number

*It is critical that we get accurate and up to date information from you to allow us to move forward.

*Please DO NOT put your contact info in the comments section of this post.

We have some Kata training at 11am on Saturday morning guys.
Sadly a few Sensei’s are unavailable this week so we can’t run all the sessions as usual. For the guys who would normally work on either Heian Shodan or Yondan please jump into one of the other Heian Kata sessions.

Dan grades who normally work on Seipai can jump into any session to warm up for the midday Black Belt session.

At Midday we will run a session for Black Belts to recap the 3 Kata we have learnt on Zoom seminars
Bassai Sho
Tomari Bassai

If Black Belts cannot attend this session please inform your Sensei.

Bassai Sho & Nipaipo training videos are on the Shushokan Online Training group - a Tomari Bassai one is coming soon👍🏻
