Toni kroos : "Football is full of double standards, We are 11 or 22 inside the field, but it's only the Fowards who gets more appreciation in every match. It's like they playing tennis or Golf, no one assisted them. I read a lot of media double standards these days. They only focus on comparing who scores more this season and start a debate of the Ballon d'or because of their goals, and forget why they scored those goals. Who worked tirelessly to provide those Fowards?, it's the whole team. The ball starts from the Goalkeeper and finishes at the final third. Every one deserves a shot at the Ballon d'or if it was not based on double standards. They must clarify if this award is only for those who score goals, then defending midfielders, Goalkeepers and defenders should live in peace. I think the invention of individuals Award in football was a wrong idea. 11 men work as a team during the season , but only one man who will be awarded instead of the whole team. This is team work not individuals task "

It doesn’t matter what sport your child plays...

Let them enjoy it... and fall back in love with it again.

Don’t put too much pressure on them.

Let them master the basics again.

Don’t be in a rush, to get back to how it was a year ago, the kids will need time to adjust, and to get strong again physically and mentally.

It’s their game...

If you give your kid a ball, they will then want to go play with it.

Then after a while, You’ll buy them the best football you can find, it might be pink, orange or blue, and then they will probably want a wee set of goals in the garden, and then a pair of keeper gloves and then they’ll probably want some boots off Santa when Christmas next comes round...

Then, then will probably spend hours begging you to go out into the yard to play with them, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv.

They will insist. And their insistence will win.

Next, they will want their new found hero’s jersey, they will also then need shorts and socks and shin pads too...

And then their own TEAM to play with...

..it’s then life as you know it will end.

There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv.

You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible.

Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling their stinky sports bag to training sessions and games on the weekend, and if you’re (un)lucky, they may even have their own Pre-Match playlist to listen to in the car to help “get them up for THE GAME”.

Your house floors will have those little black bits everywhere, even after you hoover or mop.

Your car will be dirty, all the time...

But, don’t blame the kid, after all, it was YOU who gave them the ball in the first place.

Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold-up chair watching proudly from the sidelines.

But for them, every weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty.

So dirty in fact that you will have to learn how to do laundry in a whole new way, like maybe at a carwash using the pressure washer on the way home...

Don’t ever let it get you down though, because you will be there the day they their team wins, the day their team tastes defeat, and also to see them score their first goal, or save their first penalty.

They will make you SO proud, and that might make you feel strange, you might not know how to react, but trust me, celebrate the little things, and celebrate the big things... your kid loves seeing you happy.

They love knowing you love watching them in action.

Then, right before your very eyes, your little kid will be transformed into a teenager then a young adult.

But a young adult with integrity and respect...

..and all because you give your kid a ball.

But, remember you give them more than just a ball.

You give them a sport, a new list of skills to perfect, a hope, you allowed them to dream of achieving greatness, you helped them make new friends, a new wider family, a place to learn about the life, room to grow as a person, you helped give them a club where they can push their limits, giving them that ball allows them to develop bravery and courage, and a sporting LIFE will always be a HEALTHY LIFE.

Oh and enough fun memories to last a lifetime...

ALL of these things, simply because you gave them a ball.

Then one day, many years from now… they will be in their room and they will think back to their childhood and growing up with a ball at their feet and smile.

Then some time later again, one random day, your kid will give their own kid a ball, and the cycle begins all over again.

PS. It’s even more fun second time round as a grandparent watching your grandkids have fun!!! ⚽️ 🖤

ASSET TRANSFER – CLUB STATEMENT | On Tuesday 8th December, 3 years of hard work was realised when our Community Asset Transfer Application of Almswall Park was taken to the North Ayrshire Cabinet meeting where the application was approved. We have been successful in gaining the asset and it has passed the call out period with no issues, the approval of the transfer is pending completion of paperwork and legal signing which we will aim to complete early 2021.

The Almswall Park facility includes an all-weather pitch, 4 changing rooms, office and car park. We already have ideas on how we wish to develop the facility and we welcome any ideas from our members and the wider community on how we want to shape the development of what can be a valuable and vibrant community asset for generations to come.

The past 3 years have been challenging but rewarding for everyone involved at the Academy, successes include becoming a registered charity, achieving Scottish FA Gold Standard, creating volunteer and employment opportunities, school programme and our community activity offering. We have over 300 playing members and 18 teams within the Academy including a full girls/women’s pathway. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Academy with our new ability to develop activity offered to the community utilising our brand new facility.

Finally, we wish to thank everyone that has been involved in this process and our dream would not have been realised if it was not for the hard work and dedication from our volunteers and support from North Ayrshire Council and their Asset Team, Local Councillors, The Ayrshire Community Trust and Colin McNally (CJM Accountancy).

A special thank you to Kimberly who is our NAC point of contact who has supported us at every turn and twist, often going above and beyond to make sure things have gone smoothly in our application.

Competition time
Rangers FC are holding an October holiday football camp next week at the Sports club

There is a free place on the camp plus a free space on the goalkeepers camp, to enter the company please like the post and tell us outfield or goalkeeper alongside your child’s favourite player
You will then be entered into a draw with the winners announced Saturday night 7pm
