Kestrel class visited the Arnolfini art gallery this week. Here is a post from the gallery’s social media page about their visit:
Robin Class enjoyed a walk in the beautiful sunshine yesterday. Their new enquiry is ‘What grows near me?’ The children enjoyed exploring the local fields and woodland to see what they could spot. They loved being scientists and looking at the plants and trees that grow in their local area. The children were really good at identifying different species of trees using the leaf finders!
Swallow class have been learning about solids, liquids and gases this week. They are being scientists as part of this enquiry. They looked at the differences between the particles in solids, liquids and gases and demonstrated this using balloons. They also linked their learning to their work about the water cycle. They learnt that eventually the solid ice ballon would evaporate. They really enjoyed this practical.
The whole school took part in an art competition for the Jubilee celebration. Each child had to draw a portrait of Queen Elizabeth from a particular decade. They all did a fantastic job and showed off their artistic skills.
Congratulations to these children who were awarded first, second and third place in their class!
Congratulations to Mackintosh house for winning sports day today! 🏆 Well done to all of our children for participating brilliantly in their races and for cheering on their team mates.
There are lots of people we would like to thank for today:
- Thank you to all the parents, families, carers and friends who came to cheer everyone on.
- Thank you to our PTA for providing refreshments and snacks. The ice lollies went down a treat!
- Thank you to all of the sports captains and staff members who helped to manage and set up the different activity stations.
- Finally, thank you to Mr D for organising our sports day.
👏🏻
We all had a wonderful Jubilee picnic today at school. The sun was shining, the food was delicious and we had some special guests join us. Mrs Allen dressed up as a Queen and Hamish, Mrs Tesoriere’s dog, came to join in with the fun too. Thank you to everyone who helped set up our Jubilee lunch. 🇬🇧👑🎉
Our year 4 and 5 students went to visit the Holecombe Old Church today. They had a great time learning all about different species of bats and where they nest. They learnt that there were some bats even nesting in the church. Some children were lucky enough to see one of the real life bats flying around.
The school council hosted an assembly to the whole school today. The theme was about our Christian values but specifically focused on friendship and respect. The children acted out different scenarios that might happen in school and discussed how to be kind in those situations. They all spoke clearly and confidently and received a big round of applause at the end.
