Posted • I have totally fallen in love with Quainton and the history of
We visited a couple of Sundays ago as we wanted to do something local and low key for our wedding anniversary.
The windmill is so impressive and we climbed the 70 steps to the top. A big shout out to the volunteers as they gave us a little history lesson too.
The village itself was so quaint and picture perfect. It was just a shame it was so hot as we would of had a lovely walk around the village otherwise.
If you are stuck for what to do for an occasion or a day out, you can easily spend a couple of hours around the idyllic Quainton.
The new Quainton Windmill mugs have arrived. Get yours when you next visit!
Some of our new merchandise has arrived. More to follow!
We all had a great time at the QWS annual Garden Party this weekend

Posted • Over 40 and a Mum to One] As some of you already know, I’ve got a bit of a thing for . I’ve been known to insist on adventure detours when I spot a windmill in the distance. We’ve been going to Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for years and have seen in the distance but it took us so long to actually get up close and personal to this beautiful windmill. In fact we saw it a few times from fields above the village during the various lockdowns and I’ve wanted to get inside ever since. Finally I got my wish and we visited on Sunday. It didn’t disappoint. It’s open Sundays from 10-12.30, it’s free but please make a donation if you visit, and kids receive a free certificate to celebrate climbing the 70 steps to the top floor.
The volunteers are knowledgable and the views across the Buckinghamshire countryside are beautiful. And yes of course we ended up back at afterwards for more steam loco fun.
I’ve got a couple of fairly local windmills I want to visit over the next couple of months but I’m always looking for recommendations.
It’s a gorgeous morning at the windmill, so why not visit. Here’s a lovely example of what you can expect by 🙏 for visiting and sharing. Glad you had a great time.
