Today I met with people involved in the general aviation sector. I flew in a yellow microlight from Strathaven airfield with Keith Edwards of Fly Scotland to Prestwick. Had a great chat about how we should boost the sector with members of Prestwick Flying Club. It's a sector that we could and should do a lot to promote and i will be working with them to see what more we can do. I was flown back to Strathaven in a vintage Chipmunk (it's more than 70 years old). It was great to take the controls of both planes.
Has the AGM for 2017 been held yet ? Apologies if I missed it !!

On Saturday the club was involved with the Aviation Without Borders Kids Flying Day for the fourth year in a row. Twenty nine children from various backgrounds had the opportunity to fly in a light aircraft for the first time. A huge thanks go to our small team of volunteers who took the time to fly the kids and also to the airport fire and rescue service who brought their appliances round.

A short video by one of our members who flew up to Mull for the Fly In in the club based Bulldog. Sadly poor weather on Saturday prevented some of our other members taking the club aircraft up.

Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are introducing listening squawks from 2nd April, which should only be used within 20nm of each airport. For Glasgow squawk 2620 with Mode C and listen out on 119.100, and for Edinburgh squawk 0440 with Mode C and listen out on 121.200. As with all listening squawks remember that using it does not clear you into controlled airspace, and does not mean you are receiving an ATC service. And don't forget to change back to 7000 when leaving the area or changing frequency...

Skye (Broadford) Flyin 2015
-----------------------------------
The Skye (Broadford Ashaig airstrip, EGEI) fly-in is planned for Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2015. Reserve dates in case of bad weather are two weeks later ie Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July.
