We hold three StART Talking Weeks a year where we encourage all Course Reps to get out and promote the StART Tool to students to gather feedback.
All feedback is anonymously sent to Course Reps and is really useful in helping you prepare for upcoming University meetings!
We are looking for volunteers to help us get out and about on campus and talk to students about the StART Tool. And we are offering reward vouchers for any Course Reps that sign up!

We've got another exciting opportunity for students in the HSS, CCI & TEC faculties.
Faculty Reps are a vital link between students, Course Reps, Students’ Union and University staff. The successful candidate will work closely with Course Reps in their faculty to identify the most common issues and areas of best practice, which they will then put forward at Faculty meetings and other senior level meetings.
Faculty Reps are a part of the Student Council, which is the primary decision making body for all UPSU campaigns and democratic matters and the successful candidate will work particularly closely with fellow Student Council members and the Academic Representation Officer.
We are looking for a confident and outgoing person in the Faculties of Technology, Humanities and Creative and Cultural Industries Science and Science with a passion for representing the views of the students within their Faculty to ensure ideas, opinions and voices are heard. Excellent communication and meeting skills are an advantage, but there will be opportunities for training to further improve these skills.
We particularly welcome applications from students with previous experience of being a student representative, such as a Course Rep, and who understand the importance of academic representation within the University.

We are looking for a enthusiastic students to:
-Support BAME students.
-Actively lobby and contribute to the work of the university in tackling the BAME Attainment Gap, with a particular focus on identifying and addressing specifics within each faculty.
-Seek out, listen & act upon feedback and opinion from BAME ------Students about their student experience while studying at Portsmouth, thus enabling their voices to be amplified within the University.
-Work alongside the Students Union (elected officers) & the University (Harriet Dunbar Morris and/or Paul Hayes) in developing and running student-led campaigns surrounding the BAME Attainment Gap.
This is a 1 year fixed term position until July 2022.

The Student Focus Coordinator post is jointly responsible for supporting, developing and coordinating the Course Representative system and to research, write reports and support submissions for Union quality assurance processes. You will also take joint responsibility for facilitating and ensuring all officers are elected/selected fairly and democratically, whilst offering guidance on campaigns and manifestos to all elected officers and any agreed student led campaigns. As part of the Student Focus team, you will ensure that the student voice has an influence both within the University and the Union. The successful applicant will develop inspirational training to support Union representatives (including Course Reps and Elected Officers).
This role is an initial 12 month contract but may be extended

Feedback can be of any topic from lecture length to food options in the library café.
This engagement is vital for the student voice to reach academic staff, allowing them to mitigate problems early and implement best practices. It also allows us at the Union to cater our academic representation to your needs.

We are still recruiting 3 positions for our Student Council for this academic year.
The Student Council is the primary decision making body for all of UPSU's student ideas and democratic decisions. All student ideas which have passed through our ‘Have Your Say’ process will come before the Student Council for discussion and actioning. Student Council members will then provide guidance, advice, and support to these campaigns.
Student Council Chair
The position as the Chair will include leading the meetings, approving the agenda and setting the actions for various tasks for the members of the UPSU Council. . While neutral, the Chair may decide to champion and campaign on any issue. You will also be given the opportunity to receive training on effective chairing. This would be a valuable experience for you to gain skills in leadership and conflict management, developing your organisation and time management.

Student Experience Officer
They will represent students and campaign on issues that concern the larger Student Experience at the University of Portsmouth. This role will allow you to take an active role within your learning and communities while studying at the University, and will have experience of working with a diverse range of people on a wide range of issues. This will include academic experience, housing and local community for post grad, distance learners, part time learners, etc.

Liberation Officers will represent students and campaign on issues that include any aspect of the Liberation Campaign Effort such as BAME, LGBT+, Disabled Students.
