BIG news for Waiheke Skateboarders...🛹🤙🏾

After a lot of chin-scratching, feedback, time, and a healthy dose of pressure...😉 works have now begun to modify/rectify the Skatepark's existing halfpipe🙌🏽

Works will include; lowering the height of 3/4's of the width from its current height of 5ft down to 3.5ft with a smaller width of section retained at the same height but with a re-setting both platforms and coping, and, a complete re-skin of the top layer of ply to a high quality 'Skatelite', the amendment is aimed at
rectifying the current issues, modifying the usability, and ultimately increasing participation.

This is exciting news as this will not only will breathe new life into the ramp but has rescued it from near-certain removal - 👍🏼

Works are due to be completed by 26/06/2022 with an opening event planned in the following weeks - see you then!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! Can you help...? 2 X helping hands for Sunday's Skatepark opening event. (2-3hrs from 8am 😬)

Hey all! Due to the upcoming Skatepark opening this Sun 6th June, NO SESSIONS - TUES OR SUN. Will resume next week. :)

On Sun, 6th of June there will be a Skateboard competition at the Skatepark, it would awesome if the Tamariki would like to participate 👍 (there is lot's of prizes up for grabs) In light of this, for those attending tomorrow and/or Tuesday's session's (weather permitting), We will be focusing on creating individual 'Skateboard Runs' (a pre-planned routine), this will enable the Tamariki to enter on the day if they so wish.

firstly, Thank you to all the enthusiastic attendees over last week's Holiday Programme, so nice to see the progress that has been made by many of the familiar faces and also great to see some fresh faces eagerly participating and having fun and enjoying the new space we have!

We have reduced the 'intermediate +' sessions to 1 hr, this is to allow for the lack of light leading into the winter months and to streamline the sessions to exclude the basics. These times may change in the future depending on the needs of regular attendees so please do let us know if you have any queries etc...

As always, the sessions are weather dependent, if the session is canceled or has to be suspended for more the 30mins, your slot will be transferred to an alternative date of your choice. please email the contact email to advise what day you would like.

With this now confirmed, We will be running a Holiday Programme, starting Monday the 26th - Friday the 30th. Morena whanau! Cruise Club will be offering Skateboard lesson's today at this exciting (& FREE) event here on the Island.

There will be a whole host of activities for the youth to enjoy and build on their skills. The first three hours of the event will be in the Artworks Courtyard and geared towards children under the age of 6. The event will start with story-teller Tanya Batt weaving her magic. Then, there’ll be a dance party with DJ Vicki-La-Vee and her unicorn helpers, teaching moves to music from the 60s to the 2000s. Then, the Fairy Ring Circus will entertain the crowd, with the chance for people to try some basic circus skills.

In the afternoon, the library and art gallery will be putting on some kids activities and the theatre will be showing a short performance by the kids who have attended their week-long Summer drama school.

Happy Xmas to all the young (& old) that have been involved thus far with Cruise Club, incredible progress has been made and We are completely blown away by the enthusiastic participation so far! We will still be meeting tomorrow for a single session from 10 - 11.30am but need a little help getting some more keen skaters on the session, PLEASE, PLEASE book in via the 'Book Now' button so We can help keep supporting the Rangitahi grow.
