I am writing to you to share the news that I will be leaving Wellington Primaries to take up the position of Executive Headteacher with Hamwic Trust in January 2024; my final day at Wellington Primaries will be 31st December 2023. It has been a complete privilege to serve all the pupils, staff, parents and carers at the Wellington Primary Schools as your Executive Headteacher for close to five years and I am extremely proud of the improvements we have made, and your child and your own ongoing support has been crucial.
Ascend Learning Trust will oversee the recruitment of a new Headteacher in each school and any interim arrangements that may well be put in place following the 31st December. Although I will be sad to leave, I am confident that Ascend Learning Trust will appoint excellent successors, who will continue on the journey with both schools.
Finally, I wanted to again thank you for your support and reiterate that our focus remains unchanged as we strive to further improve our school for the community we serve.
Kind regards,
Mrs C. Addis

For our DT trip, five Year 5 children from Wellington Lions Primary Academy and four Year 6 children from Wellington Eagles were selected to attend a Dyson Engineering workshop at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy.
They met an engineer from Dyson and learnt about the history of the company and its products. They were given the challenge of designing a prototype for a product to solve a problem at home. The Eagles team designed a robot toy/nanny cam and the Lions team designed a pet washer/dryer. The children had to plan their design and build their prototype from cardboard, plastics and spare Dyson parts. Finally, they had to present their prototype to the other team and explain their decision.
The Lions team won overall first prize, beating the Year 6 and Year 7 teams, and the Eagles team received special recognition for their design and product.

Today, two members of the Wiltshire moderation team visited us to work with our Year 2 Eagles team to moderate their work. We are so proud of all that our pupils have achieved, and it was a pleasure to review their learning this year and to see the huge progress they have made since September 2022. We want to share a big thank you to the whole Eagles teaching team who work tirelessly for our pupils.
Wiltshire Local Authority believes that external moderation works best when it is undertaken peer-to-peer, so it recruits teachers from schools with significant recent experience of teaching Year 2 or Year 6 children. All moderators receive a quality assurance visit to ensure that they are making judgements that are consistent with national standards.
Well done to Mrs Alderman, the team and all our Year 2 pupils! đ¤Š

Earlier this term, our Reception, Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5 children have had an online session with Paddy Donnelly, an author and illustrator of books such as 'Fox and Son Tailors' and 'The Vanishing Lake'. Paddy shared how he creates his fantastic illustrations and develops his ideas for a new book.
This inspired our Year 4 and 5 children to create their own exciting stories, using the illustrations they created with Paddy as a front cover. Our Reception and Year 1 children created their own amazing tails before writing about them, inspired by Paddy's book 'Fox and Son Tailors.'
It was a great experience for all!

Our Years 3 and 4 children have been studying the book Cinnamon, a mighty fable by Neil Gaiman đ¯ đ
Full of diary entries, informal letters, dialogue, adverts, limericks, and other poetry we have taken inspiration from the book and are writing our own mythical tales in the same style about helping a child.
The children have really enjoyed the story and produced some brilliant work đ¤Šđ
