The Owl and Pussycat Nursery provides complete childcare for all children from birth to five years. We also work in partnership with North Ayrshire Council.

Conveniently located in the Harbourside, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland, The Owl & Pussycat Nursery is a family run day care nursery which provides complete childcare for all children from birth to five years. From the moment your child first enters our purpose built, state of the art, fully equipped nursery, you can be assured our fully trained and professional team of staff will provide them with a

happy, loving, secure and stimulating environment in which every child steadily progresses and develops through the various stages of their formative years. We aim to provide home from home surroundings where everyone’s valued, respected and supported. By continually striving towards the development of an idyllic environment in which all children are provided with support, time and space, enables children to grow and develop their self confidence, self esteem and overall enjoyment of life. We also aim to achieve the goals set out by the Scottish Executive Curriculum for Excellence by providing a nurturing environment for young children through the highest standards of care and education. Our nursery is structured to suit the needs and requirements of each individual age group. For this purpose the nursery is split into three purpose built rooms, each one catering for a specific age group. Situated away from the other rooms we also have a Music and Movement Room which is used for physical and group activities. Additional rooms include the General Office, Parents Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, Staff Room and Baby Sleep Room. We also have a fully equipped, safe, spacious, garden play area with a wide range of exciting outdoor equipment. We pride ourselves on building strong and effective working partnerships with all Parents and Carers which helps ensure that Parents are confident that their child is happy, safe, well cared for and stimulated at all times. Parents and Carers are welcome to come into the nursery at any time to see how their child is progressing. We also provide you with regular feedback on your child’s development which helps you make sure they gain the most from their experience in the nursery. With our own resident Chef, we also take great pride in our delicious, healthy, nutritious meals and snacks. We offer a daily intake of 59 registered places and are registered with The Scottish Care Commission for the Regulation of Care and are subject to annual inspections. To make life that little bit easier for you, when dropping off or picking up your child we have a large car park directly outside the nursery. Morning Session 8 am - 1 pm
Afternoon Session 1 pm - 6 pm

Children can attend nursery for either morning, afternoon or full day sessions. We are closed for the period between Christmas and New Year. We appreciate if children do not arrive before the start of their session, or are picked up later than the end of their session.

Again words can't explain just how we feel at the O&P. Your kind gestures, continual support and meaningful words of appreciation. Thank you everyone, today a wee surprise lunch we'll did you think it would make it to then, it didn't even last 5 minutes in the office before the gang opened it hahahahaha. Nice wee chilled morning watching a movie and munchies together.

Good morning to all the boys and girls, mums, dad's and families who will be heading to the Fullerton hub this morning, to share together in a wonderful moment making yet another enormous memory. It seemed not that long ago welcoming you through our doors at the O&P to see you leave through those same doors but now much wiser, confident and personalities as big as the moon, like the sky at night you are all truly shining stars so bright. See you all soon for graduation, let's show our smiles and wipe mummies and daddies happy tears away.

To all our Families,

All children from babies to pre-schoolers as part of our new initiative “Percy the Park Keeper and Friends Project”, it is our mission to provide ideas and opportunities to help everyday adventures and skills for life.
We will be doing this through our Percy topics/themes within the nursery and new to this year’s initiative is a nursery mascot dog called Marshall who will be doing his very own HomeLink activities for all.
We are inviting you to be part of this exciting project and would be most grateful if you and your child could join in with some of our monthly challenges and share your masterpieces with us via Facebook, Famly or email them in:

Marshall’s Summer Challenge – can you make a Frisbee using paper plates?
How to!
Get 2 paper plates and cut out the centres. Decorate the underside of bot plates and then place them together to make a “UFO” with the right sides together. Staple around the edges and get playing!!

Send a postcard back to Marshall to tell him what you got up to over the holidays.

Two-year-olds are not yet able to follow multiple-step directions -- so if you say "Don't run"-- they hear -- run! Even if they understand your meaning, they do not yet have the skills to reflect or inhibit an impulse in the moment. ⁠

That is why positive language --✨saying what to do✨ -- is so effective with 2-year-olds. You take away a whole processing step -- and if you make it fun, it's even better. 🤩⁠

👉🏽Focusing on positive language also reduces how much you say "no" so it is more effective when you really mean no. 🤔⁠

It isn't bad to want to run, jump, be loud -- these are energetic impulses all 2-year-olds have -- how can you redirect that energy into a ➕➕positive➕➕ -- jump on these pillows, run in this field, etc.
