This Friday 7th June, we once again celebrate the legacy of our friend and mentor Mr Thomas Mallon as we host the primary schools football tournament in his memory. The primary schools in the Killeavy parish, Cloughoge, Killean and Meigh will participate in the fourth annual Thomas Mallon football tournament. This festival of football is a fitting tribute to a man that dedicated much of his life developing the skills and talents of the young people of our parish. Throw in for the first games is at 10.15am and we would like to welcome you all to attend and cheer on the kids. 💚

Blessed with the weather. Blessed with such beautiful First Communicants. Blessed with an amazing school community. Have a great rest of day everyone.

To our school community present and past. Please show your support for our local pre-school. They do not receive a budget/funding like our primary school and really do rely on donations, fund raising and self funding. It takes a village to raise a child, the child will grow and add to the village and parish in future years. Even if not attending think of sending them a monetary gift. Every little helps. 👍👍

So proud of this amazing past pupil. ‘Sic Itur Ad Astra. Reach for the Stars Harry Collins. You are an inspiration to all. 👏👏👏

Congratulations to our own Harry Collins, who has secured a place on the upcoming regional Seeds of Change Leadership Programme! There was never any doubt in our mind that Harry was the perfect candidate for this opportunity, having actively campaigned for improvements to the environment and possessing considerable knowledge on the subject. 🌍🌱

Harry will be generating social impact, leadership development, and social justice for communities both locally and globally through partnership working with Caras con Causa, a community organisation based in Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

We look forward to hearing about and watching Harry's journey over the coming months on this programme, with lots of exciting international engagement in London 🇬🇧, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, and hosting the group from Puerto Rico in Northern Ireland. 🌍✈️

We wish you well in this new experience, Harry! 🌟🍀

Confirmation Day 2024.

Another Feis celebration just in. This great girl performed in the u8 (yes u8) solo singing category and was highly commended. So proud of her. 👏👏👏

Today at a special assembly we had Will and Fionn in from Specsavers who shared loads of facts about how our eyes function and the importance of good eye health and for everyone to get their eyes checked. Did you know that the Dragonfly has the most eyes in the animal kingdom and an earthworm has no eyes? Well, you do now. As the old saying goes,”If you’re not learning, you’re earning.
We also celebrated all our wonderful pupils who received Biddy Kauffman, Pupil of the Week, Mathseeds, Mathletics and Accelerated Reader awards. ⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏

More success at Newry Music Feis this week. Primary Four and Five both came first in their class recorder performances. Primary Six came a very respectable third in their recorder class and our Primary Seven finished today with a highly regarded second placing in class band/orchestra.
A number of children also entered for solo Feis and were equally successful with second and third placings. We are extremely proud that every child from P4-P7 learn to play an instrument and get the opportunity to showcase their musical skills development to a wider audience. 👏👏👏👌👌👌

Fantastic achievement for these four game designers. One of only 14 primary schools on the whole island of Ireland to reach the Trocaire Game Changer finals at The Helix Theatre, Dublin today. The competition was to design ‘a game’ focussing on a global issue of their choice. They came away with a Special Recognition award for being the only school to design a digital game using Minecraft for Education. We are very proud of their vision, creativity, collaboration and presentation at today’s event. Thank you also to Mr Shields for his inspiration, assistance and guidance. Brilliant ambassadors for our school community. 👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟
