Santa Fun Run at Poltair School tomorrow; looks like a great way to the end the term!
Last Day of Term - Tuesday 20th December.
The finish time on the last day of term will be 12.30pm. As a small thank you to our students, this will be a non-school uniform day. We would like to encourage students to dress in festive colours or a Christmas jumper, however, this is not compulsory. There will be no charge for wearing non-uniform.
Our annual Santa Fun Run will be taking place that morning - students can walk, jog or run the route, here are a few photos from last year's run 🎅

Incredible photos from Brannel School from their 'Hello Yellow Day' last Friday.
We're incredibly proud to announce that Penrice Academy has joined the Department for Education’s Mandarin Excellence Programme.
The St. Austell-based academy becomes the first school in the county to join this ambitious, accelerated programme, designed to push the most academically able and leading to a full GCSE in Mandarin. This is a wonderful achievement as settings must be rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ with strong performance in Modern Foreign Languages to be eligible to deliver the course.
Mrs Rebecca Yeo, Head of Languages at Penrice, commented on the news:
“Being the only school in Cornwall to offer the Mandarin Excellence Programme is a fantastic opportunity for our students to stand out from the crowd; it will set students apart from the rest and open doors in future college, university, apprenticeship and work placements. It will add a highly coveted string to their bow. Languages perform extremely well at Penrice – we are very pro-language and it is something that we really value for our students. There is a wealth of evidence that highlights Mandarin will be one of the most important languages moving forward – particularly for the economy.”
Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world; connecting speakers with an exciting and dynamic culture as well as boosting career opportunities. Research by the British Council identifies Mandarin as one of the most important languages for the UK’s future prosperity and influence on the global stage.
And we're back! Hope you've all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to an amazing academic year. We love new pencil case time!
Massive congratulations to all GCSE students across our family of academies. We're so proud of your hard work and achievement.

Great stuff Newquay Primary Academy, what a wonderful outdoor learning experience!
In December 2021, Finlay, a student at Penrice Academy, suffered a cardiac arrest as the result of a previously undiagnosed heart condition. He was saved by an alert member of staff who used the school defibrillator to save his life.
Finlay and his family, along with staff and pupils have since been fundraising for all to have a .
So it is with enormous thanks to Henry Orchard & Sons Ltd for their generous donation of £10,000 to help us fund the purchase of defibrillators across our Trust. During a cheque presentation on 14th June, Mr Orchard said:
“I had heard of Finlay’s story and, as a family business, we feel it is important to give back to the local community. My brother and I both went to Luxulyan Primary and Penrice as a secondary school. It is nice to give something back to our childhood schools; it’s a brilliant cause. Defibrillators should be in every school, every village, and everywhere that is accessible.”
