Just shut the doors for the last time π’
Wow indeed! 6 amazing years, looking after some of the loveliest children I know.
Thank you to all the parents for trusting me with your little ones, and thank you to the children for putting up with my phoebia of bees and cows (especially when visiting greenham π€£π€¦ββοΈ - which i might add they loved seeing me squirm at the cows) and my lack of baking skills.
There has been SO many amazing memories, that I will look back and smile at. Getting an award at Newbury Show in the education tent, seeing a children walk and talk for the first time, looking after a children from very little all the way to school has been an absolute privilege.
The many places we visited; farms, beaches, zoos, Hayling island (theme park), donkey sanctuary, woods, coate water, 4kingdoms, and our all time summer favourite crabbing. That is just a few π€£
Today is a sad day, as 6 years of building a business up isn't easy (especially through covid), opening the house up, and extending our family out. We have shared our home from 6am in the mornings, Christmas eve two years, and cooked many meals - this was socially enjoyable, and I remember cooking 12 meals one evening π². So even though it is sad that this chapter is ending, a new one is about to begin.
Thank you to my own little family who have been on this journey with me, and have honestly been amazing. They have welcomed every single child with open arms, and I even think Agnes will be in mourning for a few weeks. The house won't be the same for awhile, but its now time for Damon to get the paint brush out, and lily and Jack to enjoy their home without having to share it with anyone else.
Special mention to two little boys who came up with the nickname 'Kai Kai' as 5 years later I am still called that β€
Love Kai Kai x

Day 1 - Sketch up close!
From a small scribble to a masterpiece that takes pride of place on the fridge, drawing can enhance your childβs motor skills from a young age. Starting them as early as possible will help them improve their hand and eye coordination, while fine-tuning their finger muscles.
And what better way to express than taking them to Thatcham Nature Reserve.

Starting tomorrow π€©
Will upload pictures of all the wild things we get up too.

Stuck for something to do for fathers day -
Make some 'daddylion and lemon shortbread'
My mindees made some yesterday, and they had so much fun, picking the dandelions, and using them in their baking.

So the last couple of weeks the children have loved the game - hook a fish!
So I have this for them to try this week- Hook a duck, but in the water table.
Confidence and self-esteem will be raised if a childβs interests are followed
Development in all seven areas of the EYFS can be promoted through following a childβs interests
Hook a Duck has so many developmental benefits, allowing children to build skills and abilities including hand/eye coordination, patience and persistence, motor control, strength and dexterity.

Its childrens mental health week, one of our activities today was to 'Express your feelings through colour'. Asking lots of questions, such as why they were using that particular colour?
Unfortunately it was raining so instead of doing it outside it was inside ππ
Everyone had such a good time, even Agnes may have been painted.
Disclaimer- No dog was hurt π€£
**1 in 8 children have a diagnosable mental health problem. Mental health is just as important as physical health **

Another book review!! ππ
I saw this book online, and it is absolutely stunning.
It is beautifully written for children to understand, big pictures for the children to look at. Such an important book for diversity, to remind us that not all children have the perfect picture book life so often that is seen in books.

Ordered some new books last week on a recommendation from someone, and I am super impressed!!. First one arrived on friday!!
Cannot recommend these books enough.
Some people may not know who this lady is, but I think she is so inspirational and how she just got on with her paintings, and inspired so many people but the whole time she was in so much pain. She was different and and showed the world it was OK to be different, to stand out.
Can't wait for the other books to arrive. π

Its always difficult saying goodbye to children when they transition to school.
Two amazing, cheeky, funny boys have left in the last week π’ but I know they will have the most amazing time at school and they will be missed at KG Childminding. I am sure they will be bouncing back through the doors in the holidays π
Another two names added to the transition wall!! Let's hope I dont move ππ

So this week all mindees have been back and it's been so lovely to see them all. It is very different to our 'normal' - but we have still had lots of fun, and getting used to new routines. We have missed our national trust visits, and playgroup visits as the children have said when can they build dens in the forest again and follow the tracks (we built indoor dens and had snack in the den) and when can they go to soft play again.
Today I decided to bring messy play to us...Messy Play is extremely important for a child's development. It provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity, allows them to explore the world around them and enhances their learning, language and creativity.
*Each child had their own bowl to ensure Covid regulations π
01/07/2020
We went to on a nature walk today, and as always picked a few things up along the way.
So we decided to extend the children's creativity and make vases and pop our wild flowers in the vases π»π·

'Cooking with children is not about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It's about harnessing imagination, empowerment and creativity'
Fab afternoon cooking banana waffles with added fruit on top :)
Tasted amazing! π

So with Newbury show cancelled this year, I was thinking what I should do with the board - and no recent work to display :( what better way to unite whilst we are separated than to celebrate all the fab memories we have had over the last year (apart from 2 pics if you spot them π€£)
Cant wait to start making some more soon. π

The department for Education tweeted this at 6pm today. Let's see what Mr Borris Johnson has to say for himself on Sunday but dont listen to all the Hype in the Newspaper, wait for the Big man to say what we have to do :)
