Key responsibilities

To assist in the provision of children’s play based activities that reflect our ethos, the social, educational, physical and recreational needs of the children.

To ensure the wellbeing and safety of the children.

To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.

To support the manager in the day to day running of the playgroup.

Ensure the care and maintenance of equipment and materials.

To undertake any other reasonable and relevant tasks as identified by the manager as well as Covid related tasks.

Person specification Qualification /certificates

The relevant qualifications (SVQ 3/ HNC or above)

Knowledge of child protection, first aid and play. Experience

Background in working with children in a play/childcare setting. (at least 3 years)

Experience of working with children with additional needs would be an advantage.

Skills & Knowledge

Excellent communicator and an outgoing personality.

Good time management and organisational skills.

Ability to work effectively within a team and when necessary to lead.

Excellent planning skills and knowledge of play based learning.

Willingness to commit to continuous learning through training opportunities.

Awareness of policies and procedures required in childcare environment.

IT skills, capable of working with Microsoft Word and Excel (training can be offered if required)

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Catherine our Manager as she moves on to another adventure. As such we are now recruiting for a new manager to continue Catherine's excellent work in running our lovely playgroup.

Hours of work: 26 hours per week
Monday – Thursday 9.15am – 12.45pm / Friday 8:45am – 12.30pm
There will also be 4.5 hours office time per week to complete necessary paperwork out with playgroup opening times which will be done at home.

Salary: £12.00-£13.00 p/h 39 weeks per year. Depending on qualification / experience.

Children can be enrolled from their 2nd birthday and we have the capacity for 20 children.

Playgroup is based inside Wallyford Community Centre which has a great attached garden facility to the playroom and is supported by 3 long term qualified practitioners.

We are looking for a Playgroup Manager with a proven track record to lead our team, who is an inspirational and encouraging leader to help make a difference to the lives of children and staff teams.

The successful candidate would join our established team, and enjoy the benefits of being part of support from our management committee as well as other local professional with monthly meetings and regular engagement.

Wallyford playgroup supports all their staff in continual professional development and we are keen to develop your personal interest further.

Planning and implementing stimulating and exciting learning experiences.

Lead the overall day to day running of the playgroup.

Ensure staff are fully aware of and use relevant evaluation documents.

Ensure all staff are fully aware of their responsibilities and carry out their role in line with all policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

Ensure the effective running of the nursery, attracting and retaining new parents and monitoring expenditure in line with budgets set.

Ensure a Covid guidance's and risk assessments are implemented and adhered to.

Supporting all of our stakeholders and forming strong partnerships.

Relevant knowledge or Birth to Three and Curriculum for Excellence

We have had Halloween tuff trays, Halloween arts & crafts, spider making, pumpkin decorating with paints, glitter and other materials. We also made Halloween cards. Great fun! 😊

🦕🦖 We had a dinosaur theme at Playgroup this week. The children enjoyed reading a dinosaur story & matching the dinosaurs to the ones that were in the sand. The children also made dinosaur biscuits for snack using digestives, icing sugar & dinosaur sprinkles. 😋 🦕🦖
