Come visit us today at 360 toddler event we are looking forward to meeting you

Conscious parenting teaches you to:
1. Stop and breathe
2. Analyse your child's behavior without being in the power of your own emotions
3. Look behind the situation and understand what has led to it.
Often you will then feel like giving your child a hug instead of scolding.
No kid gets up in the morning and thinks - today I want to be annoying ...

Happy birthday to textile designer William Morris, born on this day in 1834 💚

Behind this statement was Morris’s passion for true craft and his hope to persuade the masses that their homes should be filled only with objects of 'real art'.

Morris was a leading figure in 19th century British textile design as well as a key member of the British Arts and Crafts movement.

He pioneered a new and refreshing approach to design and manufacture, championing hand craftsmanship during a time in British history when industrial mass-production was at its peak.

From furniture to stained glass and textiles, Morris’s designs have been continuously produced ever since.

The exercise of silence is a Montessori activity specially designed to calm the children down. There are many times when a teacher of young learners has to bring children down when energy levels get too high and The exercise of silence will do this.

The direct aim of this exercise is to refine the child's auditory sense. The indirect aim is to promote self-control, concentration, grace and courtesy, as well as, self-discipline. Dr. Montessori says that a deeper level of awareness and sensitivity to noise can help to enter into a “more refined and subtle world”. Montessori therefore came up with the “Silence Game” or “The Exercise of Silence”.

Our children loved this game, and worked hard at concentrating quietly and working peacefully around each other.

Counting out the eggs.

Vertical grouping - the older child will always role model and guide the younger child in the Montessori environment, and it’s worked beautifully here, where each egg is carefully counted out. The older child can feel a great sense of achievement and growth in self esteem while the younger has a valuable lesson role modelled before them. This is why we enjoy our primary Montessori education most, and teach from 3-11 years of age.

Rabindranath Tagore’s School at Shantiniketan - New Learning Online 13/03/2024

It is crucial that we understand Maria Montessori was not exclusive, but rather inclusive in her outlook, she incorporated much of her experience of India into her pedagogical view.

During her visit in India she visited the great poet of Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore, who had a school called Shantiniketen. When Maria Montessori visited the school in 1939, she declared that she was in complete sympathy with its founder’s philosophy of education. In India, Rabindranath Tagore created a form of authentic education which he believed was more true to the needs children growing up in rural India than conventional, didactic schooling.

The theory that Montessori as a name or brand is not patented stands true, yet the parameters of what this educational outlook permits and disallows is not in the hands of anybody.
Different groups try to monopolise Montessori, but it is our belief that many people have successfully homeschooled, raised children and lived much other their own life’s taking inspiration from the Montessori philosophy and all this is authentic!!!.

The fact that the woman herself was inclusive reflects the common sense notion of development in academia, research and science, this makes it perfectly okay to be a montessorian who embraces the nature of a changing world, and doesn’t feel sensitive or challenged in one’s own Montessori practice just because of something new coming and taking seat next to the traditional Montessori texts. So long as it is a valid paradigm shift, it should never complicate the authenticity of a Montessori establishment.
