We had an amazing sports day yesterday at both our school sites! It was lovely to see so many parents able to attend and great to have the staff, children and parents come along from Russell Street too. A special thanks to Mrs Berryman, Mr Cooksley and Mr Murray who organised the events and led proceedings. There will be further details, including which house won the cup, and a selection of photos in our newsletter tomorrow.

All are welcome to come - current nursery and reception parents, children who want to start in September and anyone interested in joining SMSG 😊

We had a fabulous “Rainbow Day” day in school today to raise funds for the Harry`s Rainbow charity. Children and staff came in rainbow colours and I even popped down to see Russell Street School children who were taking part as well. The Charity support bereaved families and have been actively supporting a number of our children this year. For more information about the amazing work they do, follow this link www.harrysrainbow.co.uk

Morning all, as with yesterday, we have had further snowfall overnight but it hasn't settled on the roads and paths. It is wet, windy and chilly out so do take care when coming to school this morning. Let's hope for a tropical blast on Saturday and Sunday!
Morning all, whilst we continue to have plenty of snowfall, it hasn't settled on the roads and paths. It looks very pretty when staring out of a window, but is a bit wet and miserable out so do take care when coming to school this morning.

Happy International Women's Day to everyone within the SMSG community! We hope you are having a fantastic day ☺️

Good evening, we are very excited to welcome all children back to school tomorrow. To confirm, there is no Inset day (we end this term with one on Friday 31st March instead) and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning.

Today is Safer Internet Day. We are going to be spending time in classes learning about staying safe online and have two special assemblies later on this afternoon. Check out the link below which gives guidance around social media usage/age restrictions - further resources are available on the SID website (https://saferinternet.org.uk/). Be sure to ask your children what they have been learning about later this afternoon and I'm sure they will share some helpful advice for staying safe online.

Morning all, we have a little dusting of snow today which has made both sites look rather festive! Please take care when approaching school though we have gritted the school sites for safety. Please make sure children are wrapped up nice and warm too. We will see you shortly and don't forget, Christmas performances at North are taking place throughout the day today!

One of our students told us….
“I’ve really found my voice as a teacher and I’m becoming the teacher I want to be”…
So proud of all our students and of this student in particular who is reflecting and recognising that they are where they want and need to be.
We’d love to help you become the teacher you want to be - get in touch with Kerry to find out more about our routes into primary teaching. [email protected] or www.mkitt.co.uk

On Friday 25th November, we are fundraising for Willen Hospice. We are proud to be supporting this fantastic charity who I know have supported many friends and family members in the past within our local community. Children are able to wear non-uniform on Friday in exchange for a small donation - anything you are able to give would be greatly appreciated though a silver or gold coin donation would make a real difference.
Thank you for your support!

St Mary and St Giles Church of England School are fundraising for Children in Need 2022 - A reminder that children are encouraged to come to school in pyjamas tomorrow and we are appreciative of any donations that you are able to make to this fantastic cause. We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Lovely to see so many SMSG children at the memorial service this afternoon representing various Brownies, Guides, Beavers and other groups. The wreaths which our head boys and girls lay on Friday took pride of place at the war memorial and we are incredibly proud of all our children who respectfully honoured our fallen by making poppy wreaths and taking part in a two-minute silence on the 11th.

Our Year 6 children took part in the 2022 STEM Festival at Middelton Hall today. MK Innovates organised the festival to celebrate and inspire careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and our Y6 children were blown away by some of the amazing tech and resources. As ever, they were a credit to the school and thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Wow! What a fantastic trip to the church today for a very special Harvest Service. The children were an absolute credit to the school and we had a huge number of parents in attendance too. Thank you to Father Victor and the Church for welcoming us in, to all our families for their support (including food donations), to our worship leaders who gave beautiful readings, to our school governors and all the teaching staff who did a fantastic job rehearsing hymns and providing music - a special mention to Miss Bell and Mrs Hoskin for organising the event!

World Mental Health Day is taking place tomorrow (Monday 10th October 2022), and we want to do our bit to raise awareness.
We want to make our day as big and bright as possible, so together we can show young people they're not alone with their mental health.
Children are invited to wear an item of yellow clothing on Monday to help spread some positivity - this could be something as small as a yellow sock or headband or a t-shirt (please don’t feel the need to buy anything new or elaborate and the usual rules apply of not dying hair etc). As part of the day, we will have a special assembly around the subject of mental health and classes will do some activities in their lessons around this theme too.
Further information can be found on the young minds website and I look forward to seeing a sea of yellow across the school tomorrow!
