Yesterday afternoon saw our Year 5 boys playing a friendly cricket match against our Year 6 girls, with lots of learning and a huge amount of fun. All overseen by Mr Randhawa, our Head of Grove Cricket, who was delighted to see first hand the progress the younger children are making.

As they head home from an amazing residential at Robinwood, tired Year 3 faces contemplate what they have achieved over the last three days:
Thoughts of dear friends who pushed each other to achieve things they did not think possible; of how communication skills and teamwork were honed and banked for use in future tasks; and, of course, a tinge of sadness that this particular adventure is over. But the adventure has really only just begun, and it is in future endeavours that the true value of these three magical days at Robinwood will be discovered. Well done Year 3; we are very proud of you all.

Our Assembly this morning had quite a design technology theme. We saw some London buses, made with moving parts by Year 1, and some beautifully designed puppets that our Year 2 children will be sewing next week 🚌🧸

Just a few photographs taken at this afternoon’s Ashdown Lodge Sports Day. We managed to dodge the rain and enjoyed a super event for our 2-5 year olds 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💨

Year 3 continued their fun filled residential at Robinwood today in dry, pleasant weather. The children exemplified the 'Challenge by Choice’ ethos, showing resilience and communication skills in archery and caving. After an energy packed lunch the children are now tackling the giant swing, knights quest and the long anticipated pirhana pool.

After a safe arrival at Robinwood, Year 3 launched into their activities enthusiastically. Canoeing, raft building, trapeze and night line have already gained firm seals of approval from all the children, who have supported each other brilliantly. We will be finishing our first action packed day with hot chocolate and a review of the skills learned later. More amazing experiences await tomorrow…

Year 1 enjoyed a lovely day at Harlow Carr last week, where they took part in a workshop linked to their current science topic of Plants. The children learnt about the basic structure of plants; then carefully measured each one. They even planted peas which will, hopefully, flourish in the Harlow Carr garden!

Things got slightly messy in the science lab on Friday afternoon! Year 4 has been learning all about the human digestive system. With the aid of various resources, including bananas, Weetabix, half a pair of tights and a cardboard tube, we constructed a model to demonstrate each stage of the digestion process.

A fantastic afternoon for pupils in Years 3 to 6 who enjoyed a Maths Roadshow this week. They particularly enjoyed working together on the challenges, and interacting with students from the Grove who had come down to help run the roadshow.

A challenging combination of weaselling and caving today for Year 6, with small spaces and tight squeezes to navigate. Children showed sheer grit and resilience and activities pushed many outside their comfort zone. Good communication, teamwork and encouragement for each other meant everyone achieved more than they thought they could
