Claudia Brazzale is a dancer and scholar originally from Italy. As a dancer, she initially trained at the London Contemporary Dance School and the Merce Cunningham Studio in New York and then expanded her studies to include diverse forms of dance and performance genres – from postmodern dance and Butoh to South Indian, Balinese and West African dance – and to study dance and the body through different approaches and media –  from choreometrics analysis to somatics and video-dance. Her performances and interdisciplinary collaborations have been presented at different venues in the US, Italy and the UK
Claudia’s transnational trajectory and extensive experience as a dancer and choreographer informs and guides her interest on the cross-cultural circulation of dance practices and traditions and the significance of space, place, and mobility in a globalizing world.
