Do you have an Enfield story to tell? Do you have a building, an object, a tradition, a memory or a place in the borough you want to explore and engage others with?

We are interested in hearing from any not-for-profit organisation or individual who lives works or studies in Enfield who wants to run a heritage project.

Grants are available and our training programme will support you in creating and delivering heritage projects ranging from museum exhibitions and theatre performances to guided walks and dance pieces that celebrate Enfield’s heritage.

Please email Dorian at: [email protected] for more details by 23rd May

Came across this. It’s a very quick deadline for applications!!

Joy to the Dugdale!

The Dugdale Centre is a beloved landmark in Enfield Town and a symbol of culture and creativity across Enfield.
Due to current restrictions, the Dugdale is closed to visitors and for the next months, will be proudly contributing to the COVID recovery effort by serving as a vaccination centre.
But the spirit of Dugdale lives on! To continue providing all Enfieldians with culture and creativity, we would like to commission an Enfield artist to design a vinyl installation for the entirety of the front window area. This should celebrate the combined spirit of the Dugdale and the NHS vaccination centre and provide joy and inspiration in these difficult times, creating a temporary landmark for Enfield town.
The vinyl will be installed across all the front windows of the Dugdale centre, measuring XX by YY. Whilst the design appears solid and is fully visible to those outside the building, it is invisible from inside with only minimal impact on natural light.
We are looking for an Enfield artist to create something suitable to the scale of the building and its location, that celebrates the identity of the site and which creates hope and happiness for viewers. The design will also have to include some informational signposting and branding, final details tbc but expected to include:
- Text to announce that this is the Dugdale Centre and an NHS vaccination centre
- Logos for NHS, Dugdale, and Enfield Council
- Web address / QR code inviting viewers with invitation to sign up to the Dugdale newsletter
- Potential signposting to nearby cultural space
- Artist’s name and eg insta / twitter / email
Fee for this work is £5k plus VAT, inclusive of all expenses.
To express interest, please respond to Rebekah Polding [email protected] by Monday 15th Feb, providing the information below on no more than 2 pages of A4. Applications will be assessed by a panel of LBE officers for fit with the brief, artistic response and deliverability, with decision made by close of play 17th Feb. Work to be installed as soon as possible in March.
- Artist’s CV / statement and contact details, including confirmation of an Enfield address (home / business)
- Your approach to working at this scale, to this brief, and to incorporating informational as well as artistic elements
- An initial idea
- Three pieces of previous work that have resonance with this potential commission
- Your availability to complete this work Feb / March and proposed timetable, including reviews by LBE and NHS teams
Any queries please address these to [email protected]; staff at the Dugdale Centre are unable to assist though you are welcome to view the site from the outside.

✒️Introduction to Modern Calligraphy Zoom Workshop ✒️

Take your first socially distant steps in modern calligraphy, just in time for writing your Valentine’s Day cards, with this 90 minute Zoom workshop led by local calligrapher, Sam Brown. Calligraphy is a wonderfully relaxing hobby, a perfect remedy to the stressful times in which we find ourselves, and you don’t necessarily need any specialist equipment to get started.

Sam will begin by introducing you to the nib and explaining how to prepare it for use, before demonstrating the basic strokes and letter shapes of modern calligraphy. The class will be structured around worksheets which will be emailed before the class for you to follow at home - any pencil or pen will do! Alternatively you can purchase a modern calligraphy starter kit (including pen holder, nib, ink and paper) directly from Sam at Sam is offering free collection in Palmers Green, and free delivery along the Enfield cycle lane.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or Sam on Instagram ! Please go to our website to book!

ENFIELD POETS 13/10/2020

Fantastic project from Anthony Fisher.

Hi All,

This is a call out for poems about Enfield, both past and present, to be included in an interactive map to create “Enfield in Poetry”. The concept is for the map to have markers that, when clicked on, open a popup with photo and brief description of the part of Enfield written about, the name of the author and title of poem and a link to an audio file of the poet, or another, reading the poem. This will be hosted on the Enfield Poets web site.

There is no deadline as this will be an ongoing project but I hope that the map will go live March/April next year.

Poets can be from anywhere but the poem has to be relevant to Enfield in some way.

Initially, the poems have to be in English but as the project develops and I get a feel and understanding as to how things are going, in the future I will accept other languages.

I hope most submissions will be as recordings, any file format, but I will see if we can help with this.

October is the month of festival, a worldwide celebration of drawing!

So we are challenging our followers to have a go at drawing too, with a Forty Hall theme, and we will display the entries on an online gallery on the Forty Hall website.

At the end of October we will put all entries into a prize draw to win some Forty Hall goodies. The 3 age categories for entries are:
11 years and under, 12 - 18 years, and Over 18s.

Every week in October we will give you a new idea of what to draw, so why not give it a go and have fun!!

Entries must be drawn, not painted, and must have a Forty Hall theme.

Please send a photo of your drawing to [email protected], along with your name and age category.

So it's over to you...get drawing!
