Alec Reed Academy has now received our Ofsted Report from the visit that took place in June. It is a pleasing report and highlights many positive aspects of the academy, especially in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision which has been graded as Outstanding.
Here are some quotes from the report.
• Pupils at this school are safe and happy. They work hard and they are well prepared to take the next steps in their education, employment or training.
• Pupils behave well in lessons. They listen to their teachers, and take pride in their work.
• Pupils are very respectful of others including those from different backgrounds and with different abilities.
• Pupils across the school benefit from an ambition for all to succeed, underpinned by a carefully designed curriculum.
• A range of academic and vocational courses are delivered skilfully by teachers with a very strong subject knowledge.
• A carefully thought-out programme of personal, social and health education (PSHE) helps pupils to learn important life skills in an age-appropriate way.
This is an excellent way to end the academic year and when we return in September we will be working hard to make the changes required in the secondary phase to achieve an Outstanding grade overall in our next inspection.

Last month a student in year 13 brought in a very young boy that was lost on the bus and seemed very distraught, he didn’t attend our school but Zarah went out of her way and looked after him by bringing him to our school to seek help. Our educational welfare officer contacted the school he attended to arrange a pickup.Zarah Ahmadi embodied what our school stands for and showed how to act in such a scenerio. There are not many pupils that would have done what she did and we want to congratulate her on being a hero.

Our music students from years 7 to 10 went on a trip to Cadogan Hall to watch the Mozartists play some beautiful music. The students enjoyed the experience and listened to some early Mozart symphonies and arias.

Well done year 7’s.
Year 7 have had several football fixtures in recent weeks, after a 2-2 thriller against Featherstone last week. The boys saved their best performance of the season for a cold and wet match at William Perkins. Despite losing the boys played with a desire to keep the ball and play in the right way.
Gold was awarded to Haidar and Silver to Freddie.
