Rehabilitation Medicine Trainees

Rehabilitation Medicine Trainees

Would be helpful to know members experiences of how the BSRM COVID guidance is being implemented in their Trusts? In particular, how and when patients with complex needs are being identified and who is doing so? Happy for PM if dont want to discuss on public group. Thx
There is also this. The main points are:
1) Telerehabilitation if possible
2) Screening for outpatients still attending (temps + symptoms)
3) Interchangeable MDT sub-teams
4)Speech paths and chest physios are high risk + need PPE
Are there any west mid trainees on this group who wouldn't mind sparing some time for a quick chat about the regional training programme? Thanks
An exciting opportunity to join @MTCPlymouth @livewellsw as a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant #rehab #majortrauma #prosthetics @UHP_NHS @Derrifordjobs…
I'm going for interview for a ST3 post next week and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on questions?

Also, what is the possibility of part-time working like in rehabilitation medicine?

Subject: Applications for Trainee Representative role for the Joint Neurosciences Council

Dear JNC members

We would like to advertise and invite applications for a trainee from the neuroscience specialties to represent the views of UK neuroscience trainees at the JNC meetings.

I am attaching an advertisement and job description for the role.

Would you be able to circulate both to your trainee members? I have given below some suggested wording for the covering email.

The deadline for applications is Friday, 12th February

Dear Trainees

We are attaching an advertisement and Job Description from the Joint Neurosciences Council who would like to appoint a trainee to represent the views of UK Neuroscience trainees in general. There are three meetings a year (in London or virtually) attended by the leaders of all the UK neuroscience specialty associations. The Joint Neurosciences Council also controls the ebrain project. Please do consider applying.

With many thanks

[12/07/20]   Dear all,
I have been asked to circulate this with the trainees by the BSRM administers.

Please see details of an RM consultant vacancy in Aberdeen which I have
posted on the BSRM website with a link to the NHS jobs advertisement.
The closing date is 3 January.

I would be grateful if you could let RM trainees know. Do you know of any
trainees who may be looking for a consultant post next year and am I right
in thinking there could be as many as 7 trainees likely to gain their CCT in
the next 6-12 months?

If you have any feel for that it would be useful - thank you!

[11/16/20]   Dear All I would request all members of this group who are not members of the BSRM ( British society of rehabilitation medicine) to consider joining the society.

[11/07/20]   Dear all,
I have been informed that the below position has been withdrawn, sorry for the inconvenience. 30/10/2020

Rehabilitation Medicine Vacancies

Dear all if any one is interested!

Clinical Fellowship opportunity in Poole in 2021 and I wonder if you could let trainees know if you have not already received the information. I have posted details on the BSRM website at and details are attached.

With thanks and best wishes

[10/20/20]   Further to Prof Wade’s update on curriculum debate,

people who do wish to join the WhatsApp group I think that Matt Smith in Leeds is the person to approach - [email protected]

Prof has also suggested that trainees could get useful education stuff from the Twitter feed from Clinical Rehabilitation which he writes. There are Daily tweets, each one drawing attention to something interesting in rehabilitation, usually publications and only a minority being in Clinical.

[10/20/20]   Just forwarding a letter from Prof Wade,

I do not know if either of you belong to the 'PRM WhatsApp' group and
are aware that a few people are expressing great concern about the
curriculum. I am setting up a "Curriculum training advisory group" to
discuss ways to make the Rough Guide as helpful as possible. I do not
think any of those who have expressed an interest is a trainee.

This email is to invite one, or both of you into the group. Virtual,
Zoom meetings lasting (I hope) no more than 60 minutes, probably over
3-6 months. Let me know.

Second, whether or not you participate in the meetings, I think it is
important that all trainees are aware and so I am asking if you can
publicise the existence of the group and any documents. I will include
you in the circulation (whether or not you participate!)

Contact me if you have any objections, or if you want to suggest someone
else a a trainee representative.

Details of the conference, call for abstracts & submission system and registration are now open at
I believe you will all enjoy the experience.

[09/04/20]   Academic Clinical Fellow opportunity

This is advanced notice of the NIHR ACF ST post in RM in Leeds starting next year (August 2021). Applications generally open this/next month.

Please contact Manoj Sivan for more information - [email protected]

[09/02/20]   Dr. Anna Brian has taken over from Dr. Shigong as the new BSRM trainee representative. I welcome her to the coveted post which she won in the recently concluded election. We hope that Dr. Anna will guide us through her enthusiasm to bring about change in the training environment within rehabilitation medicine.
She has already stepped into the role and has actively engaged within the committee of BSRM.
I also welcome her to the role of administrator to the rehabilitation medicine trainee page and I hope that she will be a strong leader and guide to the aspiring rehabilitation medicine trainees.

[06/18/20]   Dear All,
Dr. Shigong the national trainee representative is resigning his post due to the completion of his CCST. Hence the post will soon be vacant.

We are therefore looking for expressions of interest for a new UK National RM Trainee Representative. This involves attending BSRM meetings (6 days/year divided between the two reps) and also JSC and SAC meetings involving a similar time commitment – providing an excellent experience.

To be eligible to stand, you must be an RM trainee and a paid-up member of BSRM.

Dr. Shigong and/or Vinay would be happy to give you more information.

Please send your expression of interest with a 250-word resume (that can be circulated to trainees during the election process) to me at the BSRM no later than Tuesday 7 July.

[06/16/20]   It’s the last few days left to enroll for UEMS PRM EXAMS. If you are planning on this please get on and do it. Last day is 20th June 2020.
