SMSC Quality Mark Launch Event 19/10/2017

SMSC Quality Mark Launch Event

On 18th September, we celebrated the launch of The National SMSC Quality Mark in the House of Lords. Lord Jim Knight, Chief Education Advisor at TES, hosted this event and discussed how the timing was right for the launch of the Quality Mark, as there is a particular need for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education at this time. The keynote speaker, Steve Chalke MBE, founder of the Oasis Charitable Trust, only furthered this idea by sharing a pertinent personal story and spoke of how the SMSC Quality Mark is an important development. Below is a video compilation of both of them speaking at the launch event, as well as other highlights from that day. http://ow.ly/Q5YF30fXv3G

At the launch of the SMSC Quality Mark, Marguerite Heath, Director of Education and Learning at the Citizenship Foundation, and Chair of Quality Assurance Panel said: "We are very proud to have launched this initiative. SMSC is important because it has the potential to raise aspirations, develop empathy, deepen spirituality, connect young people with their communities and develop values that challenge individuals beyond the material world. It creates opportunities for pupils to learn and practise human virtues and values such as compassion, hope, faith and forgiveness."
