Issue #13 – 20/12/17 – Merry Christmas | Cathedral School Newsletter Thank you all so much for your support this term. Here are a few end of term messages and reminders. Have a lovely Christmas.

Wow! What a day at Cathedral School!
It was Christmas Jumper Day, so the school was full of tinsel and flashing lights on colourful jumpers!
The day started with the EYFS Nativity and Stay & Play sessions, with lots of parents family and friends taking the time to support our Nursery and Reception children.
At lunchtime the whole school had their Christmas dinner with all the trimmings (and crackers!) in the Hall!
This afternoon, 10 of our Year 6 children participated in the Service of Light at the Cathedral, where TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were in attendance (Prince Charles congratulated the children on the beautiful prayers they read!)
Also this afternoon the Hall was buzzing with festive cheer as our Christmas Fair was held. A huge thank you to all of the parents that helped organise, bake and came along to support the fair! We couldn’t do it without you!
πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ½ Merry Christmas!! πŸŽπŸŽ„

The summer holidays are a fantastic time to read, and one book that we will be reading is 'Doorkins the Cathedral Cat'; a story about the resident cat of Southwark Cathedral! The illustrations even feature some children in a very familiar looking uniform!

Dear Parents,

As a result of yesterday's tragic events I have spoken to the police and have been reassured that it is safe to open school tomorrow.

We understand that children may feel worried or upset and we will do everything we can to support them. A member of the clergy from the cathedral will visit the school and staff will be on hand to speak to children who may need to talk about their anxieties.

My very best wishes,

Mrs Scott

The Internet is an amazing resource, and we want to teach children how to use it safely. This is a great website for parents to start thinking about children's online safety and helping them to become 'Share Aware'.
