This project involved refurbishing a historic Victorian mansion in the Scottish Borders, transforming it into a craft hotel highlighting Scottish furniture makers, artists, and the region’s natural beauty. Locally sourced materials were used, and most of the furniture was crafted by Scottish artisans.
The design primarily focused on the hotel’s main restaurant and bar, envisioned as the central gathering spots for locals and tourists, fostering community connections.
The goal was to reinterpret the mansion’s beautiful Victorian architecture, using it as a backdrop for modern interiors that celebrate Scotland’s charm.

Fostering a quality user experience of robotic objects, which will be increasingly part of our daily life, will require developing a new, original aesthetic for products that will paradoxically need to look less like humans to elicit a more empathic response.
