Who am I?
First thing first, I'm glad to introduce myself here. I am currently working as a geospatial engineer at Sir Robert McAlpine in the UK with ten years of experience in the construction industry. I had started as a junior engineer at the National Iranian Oil company, and in 2014 I emigrated to the United Kingdom. My first project was in London underground called “Bank station capacity upgrade.” After three years on the project, I had an opportunity to join Sir Robert McAlpine as a surveying engineer. I love my job, and in recent years I have deepened my knowledge in engineering, made me think about the future and how my field is changing with improving technology: automating many of the core responsibilities, surveyors finding that BIM enables them to conduct their day-to-day work more effectively. For example, the ability to access a shared 3D visualization of the site assists in their analysis and control over the process. Trying to keep myself updated in the field, I decided to be a drone pilot.
