Government wants powers over LGPS investment funds, but they could gamble away members’ money on infrastructure projects. This is not allowed in any other UK scheme, including the MPs'. The LGPS must be invested in members’ best interests.
With the authority removing your full time representation in the workplace now is the time for members to stand up and become a workplace rep and join the branch committee so that we members can seek support at the earliest stage and so that we can funnel information to the workplaces as efficiently as possible.

UNISON and Unite members have voted to reject the government’s 1% pay offer and given their respective unions a mandate to take industrial action should the employer refuse to renegotiate the offer.
GMB members voted 90% in favour of accepting the 1% offer therefore will not be taking any action but no doubt will happily accept any improved offer gained by UNISON and UNITE.
Remember you are entitled to UNISON representation during consultation periods in respect to changes to your terms & conditions. You have the right to postpone such meetings until your rep is available.
Today are at Venue Cymru for the Wales TUC briefing and workshops

Today Unsain Mon meet with the authority with School Support Staff registration fees being an agenda item as we fight for equality and fairness and request that the ECW Registration fee is met by the authority as it is in 12 others across Wales.
Great news!!!
Three defeats for the government in the Lords tonight on the Trade Union Bill: political funds, e-balloting, & FACILITY TIME.
UNISON Cymru Wales Manifesto 2016: For the public services we need http://ow.ly/Zv5tE
Mr Corbyn said: "I congratulate the Welsh Labour government on their work to stand up for trade unionists in Wales.
"Welsh Labour, unlike the Conservatives in Westminster, know that strong public services rely on a well-trained, safe and decently-paid workforce."
We therefore request the reasoning behind the lack of support shown by elected members towards the trade unions Jeremy Corbyn Welsh Labour Carwyn Jones
Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood AM has said that the UK Government’s regressive Trade Union Bill must not apply to Wales.
“In government, my predecessor as Plaid Cymru Leader worked with the trade unions as part of a partnership approach to dealing with the previous financial crisis. After next May’s Welsh Assembly elections, a Plaid Cymru Government would open the door to trade unions who were interested in developing and improving our public services and also improving the skills of our workforce.”
Ms Wood noted that the Bill’s provisions would affect workforce development and industrial relations within the public services which are already devolved to the National Assembly.
The bill would affect workforce development and industrial relations within health, education and other core public services which are already controlled by Welsh Governments.
We therefore request the reasoning behind the lack of support shown by elected members towards the trade unions Leanne Wood Plaid Cymru

Confirmation has been received by the Isle of Anglesey County Council that the funding for the Trade Union full time post at the auhtority has been cut as of the 1st April, 2016 despite still being in consultation witht the Joint Trade Unions .
This could be considered as an attack on the Trade Unions within the workplace and also against your rights to representation.
A contradiction of the stance of the Welsh Assembly Government and the .
The removal of the post will cost the authority in the long run in terms of processing times, lengthier sickness absence, an increase in tribunials, an increase in grievances, a reduction in informal resolutions and an increase in out of core hours meeting availability of the TU's.
Many thanks to all those who attended the AGMs. The draw for the prizes has been made and will be announced on Monday. The branch currently boasts 1215 members throughout the authority, may we develop and grow together during 2016 as we look to protect our members from threats of cuts, redundancies, outsourcing, during future council mergers not to mention improving the working conditions of those at detriment to job evaluation.
A great thanks to our Treasurer Llio Rowlands and Regional Organiser Geoff Edkins for completing our Annual Financial Report today!
