On the stroke of midnight tonight, you can resolve to be better, if you like…
to be fitter,
to eat cleaner,
to work harder.
On the stroke of midnight tonight,
you can resolve to become a whole new you,
if you so choose.
Or, you can take a moment to acknowledge, all you already are.
Because it’s a lot.
You’re a lot.
And you deserve to be commended.
On the stroke of midnight tonight, perhaps you could congratulate yourself, for coping.
For breaking, again,
and for rebuilding, again.
For catching the stones life has thrown at you,
and using them to build your castle that little bit stronger.
You have endured, my friend.
And I don’t see the need to resolve to become a whole new you,
when you are already so very much indeed.
Happy new year.
You made it.
Now let us face another 365 day-turn, arms wide,
accepting, embracing and ‘seeing’ each other,
for all we are..

For those of us with tractor lovers this Sunday
Apologies for the delay, but this is the route for Sundays Road Run. Leaving Thorney Lakes at 11am heading anticlockwise on the map to our half way stop at The Prince of Wales on Ham Hill (This will be the best place to see all the tractors together for those with kids wanting a look) before trundling back to Thorney Lakes afterwards.
Sadly no update on a new venue for Little Pickles so far all the venues room hire rates are WAY above what I can afford or the group fee would even begin to cover each week... Starting to make sense why there is no baby and toddler group already up and running in Langport.
Tonight I unfortunately bring you sad news that our beloved home at is out of action.
As soon as we get the okay I will put up a post to let you know the date.
Have a lovely Christmas
Eddie & Kirstie x
Can anyone make use of this for this evening, Eddie and I are poorly so can not go.
Please message me if you would like the ticket sending across it opens at 6pm.
Thanks to everyone who made it to today's Stay & Play and to Lea for letting us all have a warm space to natter away.
Fear not our Stay & Play is happening every Thursday in December with a Little Pickles Christmas Party on Thursday, 22nd more details to follow.
See you all next week.

This 🥰
So many people in my life have said a version of “You are a neuroscientist. You must be so bored being home taking care of a baby.”
This is such a complicated thing to hear. It makes me sad and angry that the work of parenting and caregiving is perceived to be mundane with no value. While work outside the home is seen as valuable real work.
Being with my baby is the most important, challenging and dynamic things I have ever done. It is so valuable, so transformative, so healing and so rewarding. So much of the work is invisible. It’s mental math of sleep patterns, behavior patterns, development, feeding, diapers, laundry, clothes inventory, appointments. It’s managing my emotions, self regulation, holding space. It’s influencing baby’s emotions, attuning to emotional states, predicting emotions, up regulating emotions and down regulating emotions, emotional coaching. Its being in a relationship, being present, being mindful.
Some of us are privileged to have parental leave. Many of us do our job inside the home and outside the home at the same time.
Being with a baby builds the minds of the future. It’s time for our society to understand and recognize the enormity of the work.
Every important and meaningful job is hard. And there are many things that can significantly help families with the early years. We need our role to be respected and revered for its utmost importance, we need parental leave, flexible work, supportive workplaces, access to high quality childcare, access to perinatal professionals, medical professionals educated in infant mental health and normal infant needs, support networks.
Together we can create a Nurture Revolution 💜🧠💜

Well said Kate 🥰

HERE’S TO THE FRIENDS
Here’s to the friends,
who give us grace to cancel the plans we made, when we were a different version of ourselves.
Here’s to the friends,
who never say ‘I told you so’ but instead, sit down and get comfortable, to hear the entire story they predicted already.
Here’s to the friends,
who send little videos of the things they know bring basic joy to your day.
Here’s to the friends,
who have our secrets in their pocket, and keep them safely guarded.
Here’s to the friends,
who show up for the happy, and the sad.
And see the importance in both.
Here’s to the friends,
we just could not be without, on this rollercoaster ride.
Here’s to the friends,
who bring in light, when light is scarce.
Here’s to you,
and here’s to them,
we’re blessed indeed,
to have that friend.

It’s the longest time and the shortest time.
Where this new found purpose of mine has rearranged parts of me from before to make room for a love I never knew existed.
It’s floating and drowning in the space of mere minutes.
It’s whipping around at the sound of “mummy”, to be surprised with “I love you”, instead of a demand.
It’s tears and tantrums, safety and surrender.
It’s where words become sentences before you know it.
It’s counting down the minutes until bed time and shedding a tear at night wishing you’d been more present, wondering if they know how loved they are.
It’s the longest time and the shortest time.
Forever a mother, forever wearing the scent of another, forever in love and stopping and starting chores, thoughts, conversations.
It’s holding their little hearts and wearing their feelings. It’s crowded toilets, dirty windows and a pure imagination that makes you want to cry.
It’s hoping you’re doing enough now so they can brave the world without you one day.
It’s feeling so deeply, so very deeply.
It’s the longest time and the shortest time.
It’s letting them fall asleep in your arms, whispering heartbeats, taking in every inch of their face.
It’s day care drop offs with a sigh of relief and pick ups where they exclaim to everyone their mummy is here.
It’s where you’re the most important person in the room, it‘s the way their eyes land on you.
It’s wanting to dip your toes into your old life when you need to catch your breath, it’s knowing you’d never change this life for a second, because they are your breath.
It’s the growing within, the growing together.
It’s long days, short years and a million moments that stand still in between, ones I hope I’ll remember forever.
Motherhood isn’t one or the other, it’s a combination of both, a recipe of everything. It’s all encompassing and it’s going so fast.
But right now I get to hold them.
I get to love them.
Right now I get all of them.
For the longest time and the shortest time.

"Us mothers. We need each other.
Regardless of how together we may seem on the surface, we are one curveball away from utter, bone-shaking vulnerability.
We are fierce, protective mother bears.
And we need one another's arms around us be it metaphorically through a well timed-message, a warm lingering glance with eyes that say 'I see you'.
Or a sentence spoken as you pass, void of judgement, loaded with recognition.
We are mothers
We need mothering
By ourselves and each other."
