23 sleeps to go until Take Part are back, and 👑 The Queens are coming to New Mills School!

We are preparing for the royal party of SIX - coming to Take Part in September!

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. From Tudor Queens to Pop Icons, the SIX wives of Henry VIII take the mic to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st-century girl power! This new original musical is the global sensation that everyone is losing their head over... and it's coming to Take Part this year!!

We are starting rehearsals/workshops on Saturday 9 September for Six, and will continue with Saturdays 15.30-16.30 at New Mills School throughout the term. We will be auditioning the main 6 Queens during workshops throughout September. Our Six rehearsals will continue throughout the Autumn and Spring terms at 15.30-16.30, and then we will move onto 3-hour rehearsals, 13.30-16.30 on Saturdays for the Summer term after Easter. To be part of the ensemble auditions are not necessary. We will be using our full ensemble to support our Six Queens in all their numbers.

To join our high school cast in this fun production, simply sign up for a free trial, come along & 'Take Part'! -

If any students/families would be interested in getting involved in the panto there is a get together session taking place in September.........

Our Story

We are a small and family oriented 11-16 school with just under 600 students. Having once been a much larger school we now enjoy an enviable amount of space and small class sizes, both of which help contribute to the calm and purposeful atmosphere around the site. The school takes enormous pride in its place in the community. All of our governors are parents of students who attend or have attended our school. Local artists work in the school, our students engage in extensive community work (be it running our annual Elderly Friends Christmas Dinner, supporting the Lantern Parade or doing outreach work with Community Arts) and the school itself is striving to become a Solar School, thereby extending the considerable work already done in the New Mills community with regard to renewable energy.

We also set great store in being an inclusive, comprehensive school. It is our intention to equip our students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to take an active, enquiring and, we hope, successful role in our increasingly complex society. To do that, we put great emphasis on developing all aspects of our students' growing characters, valuing their extra-curricular and vocational achievements every bit as much as their academic successes. We believe that education should be fun, challenging, creative and rewarding. And we believe that often means taking risks, sometimes getting things wrong but always learning by doing - and we can do that best within a supportive and caring environment where everyone is valued for their efforts and achievements.
