The children had a lovely trip to Welby Croft this morning. The residents loved our visit and we saw some lovely interactions between the younger and older generations. Thank you to the residents and staff for making us feel so welcome. We love our community ❀️

Its the start the new term and we happily welcome back our term time only children. It has been a busy few weeks for us and also sad as we had to say goodbye to our school leavers. We were overwhelmed by the kind words, and treats from our lovely families. We wish them the very best of luck as they begin their next adventure. I am sure you will love school and we are so proud of each and every one of our children.
We have lots of fun and educational activities coming up in nursery this term at no additional cost to parents/carers.
Our preschool children will be having weekly Spanish lessons (how exciting to learn a new language and extend their learning)
We will also see the return of Footie Tots following the summer break. Children will develop their physical skills, engage in team work, follow instructions, and have fun with an array of activities (its always exciting to see who will be awarded the weekly Footie Tots Trophy for effort?) The babies will continue with Bloom Baby classes where they can access lots of new learning opportunities and enjoy music and singing as a group. (they love love love the sessions!). We will also be taking a group of children to visit the lovely residents of Welby croft every week. This will bring joy to the residents and allow the children to meet new members of the community. We have done similar in the past (pre Covid) and it was a huge success.
The sun is shining, and the positivity is flowing. Happy new term everyone! β˜€οΈπŸ‘πŸ₯°

This week we have completed two consecutive trips to Peak Wildlife Park with our 4 year old children starting mainstream school in September. The children and staff had a fabulous time meeting all of the lovely animals and exploring the park. We also took with us a picnic lunch and shared lots of fun and laughter along the way. It was lovely to make lasting memories and as a final treat for children who are due to start full time education. We will be continuing this tradition each year for our school leavers. We will miss our graduates so very much and wish them well in their next chapter. We love our Cheeky Monkeys Family πŸ₯°

Average nursery loses Β£32,000 a year by subsidising 15-hour childcare 13/03/2023

Average nursery loses Β£32,000 a year by subsidising 15-hour childcare Less than 2 per cent of nurseries say the Government funding they receive to provide universal childcare for three-and four-year-olds covers their delivery costs, according to a survey by the National Day Nurseries Association, which also found that closures have risen by 87 per cent.

10/03/2023

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the effort shown to keep the nursery open today. People have gone over and above their normal duties to ensure the children were looked after safely. Staying open is essential as closing impacts on so many things and we always aim to support families wherever safely possible. For those staff that came in early, those who came in off annual leave and those that came in later (once safe to do so) we are very, very grateful. It showed great team work today... apart from us! We honestly did try. Sorry. Even a 4x4 couldn't get through the amount of snow where we live! Thank you to all of the parents who contacted nursery and gave messages of support to the team and shared your plans regarding attendance etc. Your interactions really supported us to make a safe and effective plan.
Regards Claire and Garry

The new term is well under way here at Cheeky Monkeys. We were sad to say goodbye to all of our school leavers but were very proud to share their final graduation days and wish them well in their new chapters. We would like to say a huge thankyou to all the parents/carers who offered lovely words of thanks and praise for the work we do and the impact this has had on their amazing children. I know the children were very excited to start school and the transition work we did as part of our curriculum supported them to feel prepared and confident to move on from Nursery to school after many years with us. πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ“πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ₯°

We will be closing on Monday 19th September in order to pay our respects to Queen Elizabeth ll as she is laid to rest. So many of us were very saddened by the passing of our Queen following a wonderful 70 year reign. Monday will be a day of sadness, reflection and thanks for her many years of service and dedication to the monarchy.
Thank you for your service your majesty πŸ«ΆπŸ’‚β€β™€οΈπŸ‘‘β€οΈ

When we have spoken to the children about this we have kept things simple and handled it in a very subtle way. The children are aware that Queen Elizabeth ll has died and King Charles lll is our new King. The children responded so well and we have had some lovely comments and questions from them. We really are very proud of all of the children here at Cheeky Monkeys!

NEWS: Settings forced to close leaving parents unable to access provision 16/08/2022

The childcare industry has taken a huge hit over the last years. The care we offer never falters and even through the pandemic, nursery staff put aside their own fears and it was business as usual (with quite a few Covid guidelines to implement and follow too) The importance of Early Childhood interventions is huge and the impact for children is vital. We need more recognition and support as an industry and to invest in our young children. The last few years have seen less people training to become Nursery Nurses and sadly amazing, well qualified and experienced staff leaving the industry countrywide due to the pressure, lack of funding and lack of recognition as a profession. As a manager of a Nursery I see first hand the loving care, patience, support, hard work, challenges, dedication and the commitment that staff offer to the children and I am so grateful for my amazing team! It is sad that Nurseries are having to close their doors after years of service. We thank all of our families for their continued support.

NEWS: Settings forced to close leaving parents unable to access provision Today the BBC reported that the number of early years and childcare providers being driven to permanently close their doors is leaving parents in England without access to early years and childcare provision.
