Journey Through Life: The story of the Windrush 11/10/2023

Lowewood Museum's 'Journey Through Life' celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Windrush generation by exploring stories of Caribbeans living in Broxbourne.

The exhibition is open Fridays and Saturdays between 10:00 and 16:30, and ends this Saturday. More info about the exhibition can be found here:

Imrana spoke about her work with HCEP, her career in the arts, and some of the barriers and opportunities she has encountered being a South Asian Muslim woman of colour working in the arts sector.

Don't miss Stevenage Day returning THIS SUNDAY 12:00 - 17:30 at King George V Playing Fields! Stevenage Borough Council

It's the largest free event of its kind in , and this year's them focuses on arts and culture, the King's Coronation and the Women's World Cup.

Free events include the Children's Beach, Caricatures, Community Stage, an Illusion Show Performance, and more; and other highlights include rides and attractions, speciality stalls with local
produce, crafts and games.

Even cooler: Stevenage Borough Council is going greener this year, with the two stages being solar-powered with no generators!

Don't miss the Meet Planet Munch Puppets at Hertfordshire Libraries tour, starting from 30 May!

Nysa Projects presents Savour the Flavour: a world of beatboxing greens, hula-hooping fruit, and the colourful residents of the Five-a-Day Jazz Club and Pulse dance studio.

Featuring life-size puppets, original music and plenty of interactive elements, Planet Munch is a delicious blend of playful musical theatre and inventive storytelling. It encourages eating well and living together at its core, and is created for children of primary school age.

Catch the show at Hertfordshire Libraries, in the following locations:

We're spotlighting those leading our exciting line-up of keynotes, workshops and provocations at The Power of Cultural Education on Wellbeing Conference this May!

We're delighted to feature Hertfordshire Museums, including a provocation led by Museum Development Officer for Hertfordshire County Council, Gemma Papineau.

Gemma delivers Museum Development across , and leads the Hertfordshire Association of Museums: a peer support network for museum staff and volunteers.

She was formally the curator of The Panacea Museum in Bedford and has 15 years’ experience of working in the and sector.

We're highlighting the people behind our illuminating line-up of keynotes, workshops and provocations at The Power of Cultural Education on Wellbeing Conference this May!

We're thrilled to host HFL Education, which includes a provocation from Race Equality Adviser, Shammi Rahman.

Shammi is currently Race Equality Adviser for HFL Education as part of the Well Being Team and a member of the Children’s Commissioner for England’s advisory board. She was previously Head of the Humanities Faculty and taught RS for 19 years in secondary schools in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

She set up the Youth Standing Advisory Committee for RE in Milton Keynes and as a member of the consultative subject forum for OCR advising on supporting diverse views in the curriculum. She has supported many collaborative projects promoting community cohesion and high-quality teaching and learning.

We're highlighting the people behind our illuminating line-up of keynotes, workshops and provocations at The Power of Cultural Education on Wellbeing Conference this May!

We're delighted to host the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HertsLEP), which includes a provocation from Creative Sector Lead, Adam Morley!

Adam is the Creative Industries Sector lead with HertsLEP, working with the county's creative industries, training and education providers, and local authorities to support growth and opportunity in the sector.

Previously, Adam was with the Mayor of London's Creative Industries Hub; and was a director and producer for more than twenty years. His credits include Billionaire Boy, The Haunting of Hill House, 101 Dalmatians, Inspector Morse, Up Pompeii, Dracula and many more across theatre, film and television.

Adam is also the Chairman of NW7hub: a foodbank arts centre and community Library.

We're so excited to have both a workshop and provocation from
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London's Education and Learning Facilitator, Amreeka Parmar.

Amreeka began working as an Education Facilitator at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter in September 2021, having previously worked as a fully qualified primary school teacher in the education sector for over ten years and brings a wealth of experience from previous roles in both the education and charitable sectors.

Lessons taught at the Studio Tour include seventeen different topics covering subject areas from art and design to STEM.

This week, we're highlighting the people behind our illuminating line-up of keynotes, workshops and provocations at The Power of Cultural Education on Wellbeing Conference!

We're honoured to have Waterstones award-winning Children's author, Sita Brahmachari, as our keynote. Sita Brahmachari won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize with her debut Artichoke Hearts, and is one of the most interesting and important voices in children's books today. Tender Earth was awarded an honour by the IBBY UK, and her most recent novel, Where The River Runs Gold, published to great acclaim in July 2019.

Sita's books have been shortlisted for the UK Literacy Association Book Award, for the The Yoto Carnegies' Medal for Writing Shortlist 2023, and have been translated into many languages around the world.

She was the 2015 BookTrust's Writer in Residence and is the current Writer in Residence at Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants. Sita is also an Amnesty International UK Ambassador.
