During the week of 17th - 21st June, all of the local primary schools in Harwich will be participating in an ‘Aspirations Week.’ The aim of this week, is to broaden the horizons of our pupils and open their minds to the possibilities available to them in the future when they come to think about careers, aspirations and the world of work.

We have lots of exciting events, visits, visitors and curriculum adventures planned to take place within school and we really hope that this week will inspire all of our pupils to dream big! 💭🚓🚒💃💇🏻‍♂️🎶🎹🎤

We still have a few slots left to fill, so if you want to come into school during this week and share your career experiences with our pupils please contact Mrs Seacombe by emailing [email protected]. ⭐️🌎

Walk to School Week – 20th–24th May

Our school is taking part in Walk to School Week. This nationwide event is organised by Living Streets and designed to help pupils experience first-hand the importance of walking to school. This year’s challenge, The Magic of Walking, encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. Each pupil will be challenged to travel sustainably (walk, wheel, scoot, cycle or Park and Stride) to school every day for one week using the wallchart and stickers to log their journeys. Each class will work collectively to make as many active journeys to school as possible across the week. Individual activity diaries, daily stickers and end of week pupil rewards will complement this activity, reinforcing the benefits and keeping children engaged. We would ask, if possible, to make arrangements so that your child/children can travel actively to school during the week commencing 20th May, helping our school reduce congestion and pollution around the school gates.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Game: Take The Lead – THINK! 03/05/2024

On Friday’s Mrs Seacombe leads our ‘Travel Safety’ Assemblies. This morning, KS2 discussed the topic of making their first journeys to and from school without an adult. We know that shortly our year six pupils will be transitioning to secondary school and we thought that this would be an ideal time to discuss how we could travel safely without an adult. The pupils came up with their own safety rules and then we played an interactive game putting our learning into practice.

Take a look at the activity below to see the game pupils played.

Say a big hello to Lola our school dog in training. Lola is a 6 months old cockapoo. She is currently in training to be our school dog. She loves coming into school and interacting with the children. At the moment she is in school once a week. The experience of having a dog in school so far has been very positive for our children. As you can see Lola even enjoys playing a board game!
