On Wednesday last week, our Career Ready students attended the virtual Capital Experience!
They got the opportunity to travel to the Humber Royal Hotel to watch Action Jackson host a Skills for Success Workshop where they learnt key skills such as professional body language, how to behave in interviews and more!
We then gave them a pizza lunch at college, and they attended virtual employer talks with companies such as , Lewis & Bockius LLP and Aviva!
This was a fantastic event and a great way for our students to get to know each other and the Career Ready programme!
We have some fantastic virtual Working Lunches taking place for our students in November/December!
Students will get the chance to speak with working professionals about their role and their career, with the opportunity for a Q&A at the end!
Virtual Interview Preparation Conference for Health and Medical degrees!
We are offering students to the chance to attend a conference offering them expert advice relating to the interview process and preparing them for what they may experience at their interviews!
One of our Franklin students took part in some fantastic Career Ready virtual work experience with Reward Gateway Technology over the October half term, and we received this great feedback from afterwards - well done!
"My placement was amazing! Before I was a little uncertain of what I wanted to do in my future, originally I wanted to do chemistry but decided on taking a gap year. This meant that I had to go over the entire process again of deciding what degree I want to do.
I kind of chose to do the placement last minute just to see what other kinds of careers are out there because I’ve only ever known science. And I’m so glad I did.
I’ve learned about so many different job roles in the company and I’ve taken an interest in marketing, as well as realising that I CAN do a creative career and still earn enough money.
The placement was focused on employee engagement and it’s something I’ve never considered before but now when I get a job I’m going to ensure that the company values its employees, that’s a new factor I will always consider.
Finally I also developed my soft skills. I am an extremely nervous person but in this placement I participated in so much team work, creating new ideas with people I’ve never spoken to before, developed my presentation skills etc."
