Last week, our Science students visited the Post-Mortem Live show!🧠

Students had the opportunity to understand forensic processes that are commonly used to evidence cause of death and identify victims, including working with instruments used during procedures and dissecting organs.

We have some very talented musicians here at Franklin!🥁🎶🎙️

Last week, our Mountaineering students took a trip to Kinder Scout in the Peak District, where they encountered streams, steep rocks and extraordinary views.🏔️

Mountaineering is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn how to navigate maps and experience the great outdoors, overall improving mental and physical health.🌥️

Last week, our students engaged in an interactive road safety performance delivered by Safer Roads Humber, to help educate them on safe driving.🚗

The session aimed to increase awareness of distractions whilst driving, mobile phone use, speed and driving under the influence of drink/drugs, and help them to understand the consequences.

This week, we've been joined by the Royal Air Force 👩‍✈️✈️👨‍✈️

It's been a great opportunity for students to ask questions and discover more about the different roles in the RAF, ranging from pilots, aviation engineers, RAF Police, air traffic controllers, nurses and more.

A big well done to our amazing Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services students, who've been busy raising vital funds for some great charities!🧁🌟

Our Social Science Academy recently welcomed ex-student Robyn Jackaman back to Franklin from Bishop Grosseteste University, to deliver a Masterclass on Crime and the Media.🚨

This was a very thought provoking and insightful discussion, focusing on how moral panics can be applied to social media and new technology.

Earlier this month, our students had the amazing opportunity to attend 'Animex', a leading industry event for games, animation and VFX! 🎮

Attending one of the Game days, students were able to experience a variety of talks from industry professionals covering topics such as art direction, 3D modelling, level design and so much more!

A long but great day was had!

This week our Uniformed Protective Services students have been raising money for RNLI through a friendly game of dodgeball!🏐

RNLI lifeboat crews protect hundreds of communities around the UK and Ireland and save thousands of lives at sea.🌊

Our students have lots planned over the next few months to raise money for some incredible charities!🧡

Yesterday we welcomed Harriet and Dawn from Orsted.🌊

Our Maths and Engineering students asked some great questions about life on and offshore and the different roles available, from working on the wind turbines to working in HR.

They also discussed work experience opportunities, and how and when to apply for apprenticeships.

Last week, our Health & Social Care students spent the day at Sheffield Hallam University!🏙️

Students were able to explore the university and the range of courses, and how they link to different career opportunities within the health & social care sector.🩺

They also took part in an interactive VR experience and spoke to lecturers who shared their own knowledge and experience within the field.

Last week, our T Level Education and Early Years students welcomed North Lindsey College to Franklin!🚸

The Year 2 students from North Lindsey delivered a session to our Year 1 students, showcasing the wide range of knowledge they've gained throughout the course.

Students developed communication skills, which are vital to working in an education setting, and other key skills such as problem-solving, confidence and adaptability.

Our Performing Arts students were inspired last week by ex Franklin student Max Kerrigan, who shared his experiences since leaving college, working in the Performance Industry as a Blue Coat at Pontins before moving on to Salut.🎭️

His impressive range of transferable skills was evident as he discussed the broad range required to be successful in the industry, from stage management to script writing, set design and singing.🎙️

Last week, our Debate Club welcomed Melanie Onn, the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Labour Candidate for the General Election.📢

Our Sports Leaders will support the delivery of sports events, competitions, coaching and PE lessons, both locally and regionally.
