Children in need fun at Rainbow Corner Nursery & Pre School๐คฉ๐คฉ

Huge congratulations to Grace and Louis for winning The Pudsey Bear challenge for Children in Need.
A big thank you to everyone that has donated to the charity. We are pleased to announce we have raised ยฃ227.

Last week we had lots of spooky fun at the Pre-School Halloween party, we played musical statues, hunted for edible body parts in the garden and passed the parcel.
For the rest of the week, we focussed on the importance of a healthy morning routine. For this week only we changed snack time and gave children a choice of cereal or fruit. This lead to discussions about the importance of healthy nutritional foods we should eat in a morning. We enhanced the role play area to bath the babies and had toothbrushes to promote dental hygiene.

Here is a snippet of the fun some of the older children had in the half term Forest School sessions, lead by Mrs Di and Jess โบ๏ธ๐ณโ๏ธ
From decorating pumpkins, to creating spooky bird feeders, to constructing flying machines, and casting magical muddy spells (to name but a few) ๐๐ป๐
Keep your eyes peeled for more of these sessions to come ๐

Thank you Di for making Halloween cakes and biscuits and to all the staff for making Halloween special for all of the children

Exploring Autumnal changes in the environment! The Pre school children have had the opportunity to get out on the mini bus twice these past few weeks โบ๏ธ They explored the woods, where we were surrounded by nature, and observed different species growing in the environment around us๐๐ฟ
The following week we visited the local farm shop to pick some pumpkins. We chose all different sizes, which gave us opportunities to discuss size, order, and to recognise numbers on the tape measures and rulers.
We have also created our own autumn leaves, melting chocolate into moulds, watching the solid chocolate change form, from solid, to a liquid, adding autumn coloured smarties ๐
This week we have talked about the celebration of Diwali, and displayed this in a range of colourful activities, colour by number, and practiced our fine motor skills using scissors to make pretty Lanterns โบ๏ธ

The Tweenies have been learning about Autumn this term, they have engaged and explored with natural objects from the world around them. ๐๐๐
We have been looking at the colour of leaves and how they change when falling from the trees. ๐ข๐ ๐ด
The children have talked about the textures of acorns, fir cones and conkers and have made an amazing Autumn display with all their craft work. ๐๏ธ๐จ
Percy the Park Keeper has been our book of choice and we have enjoyed listening to all the stories and poems during our group activities. ๐

๐The little Red hen has been our focus story of the week in the Pre-School room. Following this, we have learnt how bread is made by exploring tactile materials such as corn and flour. We have watched a video on the Ipad, showing the process at a Mill and we have baked our own bread to taste.
Some of the children went on the minibus to visit the local farm shop. We bought various different vegetables to explore. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating their own farm shop with the vegetables which encouraged some great language of money, counting and developing our imagination.๐ฅฆ๐๐ง

This month in the toddler room we have been getting ready for Autumn. The Children have been learning some new signs and songs ready for the new term. The older children have been helping the younger children to settle into their new room . Some of the children have taken part in some forest school sessions, exploring and climbing the trees.

The babies have had a visit from Sarah's guinea pigs today called 'chocolate' and 'caramel', we have enjoyed feeding them spinach and hay and stroking their fur coats. ๐น๐พ

๐Pre-School Room๐
We have had a fantastic week discussing Our families and who is special to us. We have explored this in different ways including natural resources, playdough and mark making tools.
We have adapt the role play areas this week to encourage the children to engage in conversation and share ideas. Bathing the babies was a huge favourite and some of the boys furthered their learning by building their babies their very own cot bed. ๐คฉ

Peter rabbit has gone missing from the Toddler room. He may have been misplaced and put in someone's bag, can you please check your child's bag and get in touch with the nursery if you have him.
Thank you ๐

The new children in the Pre-School room have settled in very well. They have followed the routine brilliantly and have started to take turns to be helper of the day, which involves being the leader, collecting name cards and feeding the fish.
Old Bear has been sat on his shelf watching how well behaved the children are and has chosen some of their houses to have a sleepover ๐ป
We have followed the children's interests this week, getting to know each other by finding out our likes and dislikes and including this in our play.
๐คฉPre School๐คฉ
As we are Settling into the Pre-School Room we are learning โAll about meโ.
Please could you bring in a photo of your childโs family. This will give your child the opportunity to talk about their families and share experiences.

โThe more risks you allow your children to take, the better they learn to take care of themselvesโ
Roald Dahl.

The children in the toddler room enjoyed a special story read by Mrs. Julie. The book was called 'Julies Jungle' and Mrs. Julie dressed up for the children and gave them all little animals to hold.
They were able to recognise and point to the animals when asked and understood the story and what was happening with the help of the pictures. They listened with interest and loved it when Mrs. Julie used her binoculars to find all of the animals they were holding.

What a fantastic Term the Pre School have had! We have celebrated the Queens Jubilee, the Armed Forces, we have spent a week exploring science experiments, we have been to space, completed daily nature challenges and prepared ourselves for our next chapter of starting School.
The Pre School team are super impressed with the school leavers, they have been practicing writing their names, developing understanding of shape and numbers and most importantly learning those vital steps ready for transition to school which is learning how to build relationships, work as a team, follow instructions and building independence in self care.
We would like to thank all parents for braving the very hot weather to attend the graduation ceremony on Monday, I'm sure you all agree the children all did an amazing job to stand in front of a large crowd.
We wish all children and parents the Best of Luck in your next journey in September. The pre School Team โบ๏ธ
โ๏ธโ๏ธAfter taking into consideration the extreme weather conditions, we have decided to close the nursery at 4.30pm today.
We understand this is very short notice but the safety of the children is our priority.
Please could you collect your Children before 4.30pm, you will not be charged any fees at this time. โ๏ธโ๏ธ

This morning the Tweenie room have had a wonderful time at the park, climbing, running, balancing and working as a team to use the see-saw. โ

This month in the Tweenie room we have been looking at our different emotions and reading about them in the colour monster story book. ๐๐ญ๐

We have turned the home corner into lots of exciting things like a restaurant and a shoe shop measuring our own feet and engaging in new activities with our friends. ๐๐
Franklin had his 3rd birthday and brought some yummy cakes for us all to eat. ๐๐
Last week we got messing using our senses to explore the different tuff tray activities, extending our language and learning new words like sticky, runny, squishy and slimy while playing with the gloop.๐

๐This month in the baby room we have been concentrating on using our communication and language skills. The babies have been listening and understanding simple sentences as well as learning new single words, we used activities to enhance this such as pulling items out of a bag, identifying objects from a group and recognising animal flashcards. ๐พ
The babies have also joined in with row the boat and playing peekaboo with their keyperson making relationships.๐

Last month in the Toddler room we have really enjoyed different imaginative play, we have encouraged the children to take part in simple pretend play. We had a vets, a flower shop and a vegetable patch.
The children helped to plant out different vegetables and we have been learning how to care for them. They used their physical skills to pour and fill up the watering can to water the new seeds.
We helped the children with their counting skills, counting out the different vegetables that they could see.
We have also been learning Makaton signs to help the children develop their language. The children do this as part of their daily routine and have picked it up really quickly.
Reminder..
The Nursery will be closed Good Friday & Easter Monday!!!
