An email has been sent out to all parents today, please ensure that you check your emails and make us aware of any changes if you need to.
We are still waiting on a response from school in relation to the conditions of our return and will update if the predicted return date needs to change. Thank you for all your support and patience with the setting over the last year. We know how challenging this situation has been for many of you and we are usually able to be there during difficult times. Hopefully we can continue to move forward to better days 😊

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, just sorry to have no news to share other then we are waiting for news about schools returning. We hope to bring some good news next week once announcements are made.
Until then we ask that you bare with us.
As a team we have gone through so much this year with many changes. We hope that all our families are doing okay. This lockdown has been tougher! Really proud of my team and how they have adapted.

Coronavirus: wellbeing activity ideas for families

Coronavirus: wellbeing activity ideas for families With children now back at school, parents and carers may be looking for activities to try at home with their children after school or at the weekend. We’ve pulled together a list of recommended resources for families from some of our trusted partner organisations.

Please be assured that I am working on things and will be sending a series of emails out across the weekend in relation to any possible phased return.
As I work in partnership with the school I am currently waiting on a response from them. I appreciate that some of you are anxious if you are key workers.

Happy United Nations day!

We think you follow us because you believe that every child should have the right to play.
So, share our page, encourage your colleagues to join our free membership and let’s continue together to support children’s access to play opportunities.

The United Nations recognises gets importance of children’s play in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the rights of the child.

Play England are highlighting the impact of Covid-19 on children and focusing on their opportunities to play. Together our voices are stronger and more powerful.

We are beginning our journey to return to after school club. Things will look very different but I want to reassure everyone that we are still here and will be opening our doors to the children on 14th September
Our parents will receive emails in the next week regarding our return
If you need after school care and your child attend Culverstone School please make contact as places will be very limited from September

There’s a lot of worry out there at the moment about when schools will go back. I’m not sure if this worry is for education or for a need to return to work however wanted to share examples of how play can support learning so parent can stop being so very hard on themselves. Over the years I have planned and delivers 16 play schemes, occupying up to 40 children per day across 3-6 weeks of the summer.
Every day is different and a new learning opportunity. I wanted to share some of the things we did with you all in case you need some ideas:
Week 1
1) Exploring the world via different activities and stamping our passports along the way. We tasted different foods tried to learn words in different languages, did competitions for the best drawing of a national flag, finding out where animals live.
2) Dinosaur day- Painting dinosaur eggs talking about colours, digging for fossils and somehow learning what a fossil is, writing down as many dinosaur names that we can spell and more! (Art, maths, English and much more)
3) How to train your dragon- Team work challenges to build dens, a dragons lair challenge to silently creep in and collect dragons gold in stealth mode without getting caught (maths, PE its all in there plus asking questions such as aren’t dragons real?.....personal joke, don’t ask!)
4) The big kids club bake off day- baking scones, cakes and biscuits. Lots of maths and science in that day and the children didn’t even know it)
5) The mad professor day- Melting ice, potion making, growing crystals (lots of maths and science all day long and the children didn’t even know it)
Week 2
1) Cowboys of the Wild West- Okay so we didn’t have real horses but we could still practice to be one. Hoopla games, making camp for the night, campfire singing and looking at American History too (just maybe leaving out the stage coach hold ups and Billy the Kid) (History and Geography here)
2) The Borrowers day -Who knows the book about the Borrower? Reading from it, a giant obstacle course called please don’t wake up the baby, learning about big and small. (English, Art, PE, plus social skills)
3) Board games and old fashioned fun day- Hop scotch, jacks, french elastic, two balls up the wall, marbles (supervised), Conkers, patience, what’s the time mister wolf and loads more (eeekkk supervised lol). NO TECH ALLOWED TODAY
4) Welcome to the big top- A circus adventure including face painting each other, learning tricks, juggling, finding out what animals used to be in a circus and more. We sold tickets to the event and the children made their own pop corn. (Maths, English, Social skills)
5) All the fun at the fair- The kids made their own games for others to play, learning to manage money by pricing up charges for games, entry etc, Designing posters to advertise the fair, making tickets for tokens, making food and drinks for the food stall which children then sold. (Maths, Art, English)

Even if its just 1 child and 1 adult you can still have these themes and use whatever you have in the house! We work sometimes with limited resources and use junk really to make things..............good luck!

Hoping everyone is staying safe and the children are all well. Let us know what you have been doing.
We are keeping our eyes on official news updates and I will email all parents as the need arises in relation to any changes on our current closure circumstances.
Can I please ask parents who are friends with others whose children attend club invite them to our parent group as not all parents have joined, Many thanks x

Wishing all our mums a very happy Mother’s Day, hold your children close and remember what matters. As the girls have got older I have always asked them to make me gifts......I missed the ones they used to bring home from school. So I’m currently waiting for my teenagers to appear from their caves to present me with some home made delights.

If anyone has Lego at home

As we all spend a bit more time indoors we'll be posting play ideas to keep your kids busy. How about this for starters.

We hope to welcome you back to our club soon. We will miss all our children and their families and are wishing you all well across the next few months. I know that this is a very hard time for us all whether it be medically or financially, please keep in touch with us via this page! If there are parents who are not yet part of our facebook parents group I will be adding you. Can any parent who is already a member please invite those who are not. This will enable me to provide any updates if and when I need to. Take care of your selves and your loved ones. Love the North downs Kidz team # # #
