Last week, Oaks class had the opportunity to learn some basic first aid. In this session, they learnt how to do CPR, what to do if someone has a cut or a burn as well as know how to help someone who is choking. They were all very mature about the workshop. Well done Oaks class!

Last week, Oaks class had the opportunity to go to Dover Castle to find out more about Operation Dynamo, whilst there. They learnt that people lived in the secret war tunnels and did 12 hour shifts as well as not being allowed to go to other parts of the tunnels due to security worries. We also visited the Princess Diana Museum, which is dedicated to soldiers from the 1700s up to the present day. As well as visiting the castle (which the children loved) we finished the day visiting the WW1 post and some of the children had a go at morse code and looked out over the sea to see if they could see France.

Welcome back to term 4, we hope that you all had a great half-term.

During the last week of term, Oaks' class had their wow afternoon, celebrating VE day. They started baking scones and WW2 cakes the afternoon before and everything was prepared by the children themselves including decorating the room. While they were having a party, they had to consider that the country was in the middle of rationing and that technology was not available then. They played cards, marbles and pitching pennies. We also played WW2 music in the background whilst the children had fun.

Quote of the day: “You can still have fun without technology!”

On Friday 2nd February, Oaks class had the privilege of having a special visitor: Sgt Dean Nash. The pupils got to ask him lots of questions and the pupils even had the opportunity to try on some of the items soldiers must wear when they train or go out on tour. Thank you again Sgt Nash!

As part of our topic this term ‘People who help us’, Acorn Class had a surprise visit from the Police on Friday 12th January. They had a talk about who the Police are and what they do to help people in the community. The children tried on the Police uniform and got to see a Police car and van. The Police sounded their sirens and allowed the children to sit in the cell at the back of the Police van. The children had a great time!’

For anti-bullying week this year, some of our pupils here at Sedley's took part in our Trust's anti-bullying week video.

As there are 12 schools in Aletheia Academies Trust, unfortunately, they couldn't use all of our video, so instead we would like to share with you our video from here at Sedley's.
