I think everyone should know simple first aid skills
It should be taught at schools
I have had the worst day of my life 😭
I popped to Costco in farnborough with my Maxi after nursery.. he said mummy I’m a little hungry, Can I have a snack.. I said we will pop to the cafe on the way out..
So we paid for our bits and queued for our hotdog and jacket potato!!
Max was so hungry he took his hotdog and went and sat down.. I literally walked over and sat opposite him.
Suddenly I noticed Max was coughing and suddenly choking I ran round to him and starting banging his back as you do.
I just thought a few bangs to the back and he would cough up what was stuck, but nope he was seriously choking.
He was gasping for air and turning blue
I layed him across my lap face down and began back thrusts, it just wasn’t shifting at all, so I stood him up and tilted him forward and thrusted his back but still nothing and he was struggling so much for air.. he starting bringing up blood and gooey stuff.. I was seriously panicking at this point like I need to get this up.. I called for help from members of staff in costco.. only one young male member of staff came over at first he didn’t have a clue what he was doing and was just slapping his back, But he tried his best..
Two ladies who were sat next to us came to help me they were absolutely fantastic and very supportive.. I couldn’t of done it with out them..
But he was still choking and it wasn’t coming up
I turned him up side down still nothing, I gave him abdominal thrusts still nothing.. I was screaming the place down, screaming for help as he was literally dying right in front of me..
LIKE ANY MOTHER WOULD!!!!!!
I felt so helpless and I tried so hard to help him.. He became very floppy and unresponsive..
The lady came and took over me and another lady was trying to keep me calm as she could but I was going absolutely CRAZY as I couldn’t just stand there was watch my boy choke to death..
Everyone at this point was just standing around watching and not helping 😡😡😡😡
Till staff didn’t stop and come over and help they just carried on serving customers as normal!!!
Managers didn’t help as they didn’t have a clue what they were doing so stood and watched but called for an ambulance 🚑
Reception/and membership till stood and watched and carried on serving 😡😡😡😡
By this point I was so BLOODY CROSS, HURT, ANGRY and was loosing the plot as I needed help from a first aid team or some trained members of staff who knew what they were doing!!!!
One man came down to help which was apparently first aid trained he didn’t really do anything...
One boy and 2 customers were trying their best to help my son!!!
The staff were to busy watching and putting round a white board so people couldn’t watch than actually calling for staff to come and help a 3 year old boy choking..
The response from the Costco team was absolutely disgusting and horrific...
It had been 7 mins of Max choking nothing had come up
The ambulance arrived and the crew didn’t manage to get it up at first.. they asked me to carry him to the ambulance 🚑 as I was walking out the building I was still holding Max forward and still thrusting his back and praying so hard.. he suddenly got it out 💙
I literally thought I was loosing him, my heart had never hurt so much.. he came round to his normal self and said mummy it came out I’m alive I’m fine mummy!!!!
My heart sank and I cried so hard and hugged him so tight..
He was taken to hospital in the ambulance to make sure he was okay and no damage was done..
I went back in store to get details of the managers on site that day and the witnesses to what had happened..
I also asked a lady member of staff for a small teddy bear or gift to take to Max up the hospital to make him smile and she asked me am I paying for it 😮😮😮😮 Seriously!!!!!
I wanted to put this on here for people to see how dangerous choking really is
I always cut up Max’s food but this was the most scariest day of my life..
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the 3 people who came to help 2 customers and 1 young Costco worker
I am so so grateful ❤️❤️❤️
I will be taking further action on Costco for there lack of response and help and care for my son!!!!
And to not even ask how he is since the incident is disgusting!!!!
