First week of Zoom lessons going really well, it's a very different way of teaching, but I'm a quick learner, and all my parents and students have been super supportive and understanding as we feel our way down this new and exciting corridor of opportunities.

This week I have taken on a lovely young chap called Tim from Hadfield, and after riding my bike over for the first time since the lockdown, I collected this beauty off his doorstep with zero personal contact, for a full set up, and I shall return tonight in time for his next lesson tomorrow 😎🤘

An early 70's (as best I can tell) Guild GE100 Archtop, modified with Bartolini pickups...

Simply... Astounding.... Full deep clean, electronics checked, action and intonation set up to within an inch of its life...

The owner was gobsmacked, fell in love with her all over again the second I handed her to him...

She will be missed, but she has the best Forever Home a guitar could wish for... and I was given a few quality bottles of wine for my troubles, on top of the £50 fee, inc parts.

Well, it's been a crazy year for Jay-Bee Tuition, 2 house moves and the establishment of our Guitar & Bass Mastery Courses. We have doubled the number of students, thanks in most part to the recommendations of my existing and past students. I cant say how much that means, and know that I am super proud of each and every one of you!!

We will be resuming lessons from Friday 3rd, cant wait to see you all progress and blossom as musicians in the coming year. We get out of life what we put in, and becoming the guitarist you always dreamed of is no different - and I am here by your side for every step of this crazy, life-changing journey. So last night was fun...

Fixing up a 1970's Gibson 335 copy by Commodore for a customer, and after a few weeks of fruitless attempts we realise that because of the way the guitar was originally built, it wouldnt be possible to use the regular "oh God thos is gonna be such a pain in the arse" standard 335 electronic techniques to get all the Gibbons in and fitted... a long a tedious process much like the way ancient Egyptians removed the brain through the nose when mumifying Pharaohs... but in reverse, and more messy...

So instead my luthier friend advised that we create an access panel in the back... like all normal guitars 😊
It will be easy he said, much quicker he said...

So three of us spent over 5 hours last night filing through the back one micron of dust at a time, taking it in shifts, cleaning the back up, shaping the back cover by hand with sandpaper, soldering electronics etc...probably close to 7 in total...

But we got there!!!! Whooop!

Next step.... fit the rear access plate and then loading in the electrics!! Cant wait! Such fun with friends!!
