⭐️ Early Learning and Childcare is getting bigger and better! ⭐️
We are delighted to inform you that from August 2020, the number of funded hours will almost double from 600 to 1140 a year.
Your child will be able to attend any Kirktonholme Childcare Centre on a funded only basis all year, meaning that there could be no cost to you at all depending on the hours required.
At Kirktonholme Childcare we propose to offer the eligible funding over a 50-week period which equates to 22.8 fully funded hours per week. These hours will also be inclusive of a selection of healthy snacks and lunches. Anything over and above these hours required will be payable.
This increase is for ALL 3- and 4-year olds, and about a quarter of 2-year olds. Find out if your 2-year-old is eligible for free childcare here.
https://www.mygov.scot/childcare-costs-help/funded-early-learning-and-childcare/
This will be available for everyone from their 3rd birthday from August 2020, however if you attend a nursery out with your home Local Authority this may be the term after their 3rd birthday, this has still to be confirmed.
In some Local Authorities the increase is being phased in right now so some families can access it already. Each local authority will be doing it differently, so what’s being offered in this ‘phasing period’ might not be the same as what will be on offer from August 2020.
🔹How do I apply?
You can contact any of our centres and arrange a visit at any time.

🔹What help can I get if I'm paying for ELC?
If you are paying for ELC, check out additional sources of help on at
https://www.parentclub.scot/articles/get-grips-childcare-costs-and-benefits
🔹Do I have to use all the funded hours?
No, the hours are an entitlement, not a requirement, so you can choose to take all or part of the hours available to you.
🔹When can I start claiming?
You can contact any of our individual settings now and register your child.
🔹Can I split my entitlement over different settings?
Yes, from August 2020 you can chose to split the funded hours between two settings such as childminder and nursery ( This is known as a blended model).
🔹Extra costs of ELC
Sometimes an ELC setting might ask that you provide things like waterproofs and wellies for example. It all depends on the setting. But if you're worried about how you'll be able to pay for the wee extras, why not check out the Best Start Early Learning payment as you might be eligible to £250 to help with costs like these.

🔹What if I live in a different Local Authority from the nursery I have chosen?
You should still be able to use your hours at any centre, however more information regarding this is to follow once your Local Authority and their neighbouring authorities have agreed the method on which to do this.
Please contact myself Nicola at Wishaw if you have any questions

More Good News For North Lanarkshire Council Residents

Yesterday afternoon at Motherwell Civic Centre, elected members unanimously voted yes for a motion to fund all deferred entry for 4 year olds.
This means to you that with immediate effect, should a parent believe their 4 year old child could benefit from an additional year at nursery then an additional 1140 hrs funding will be allocated for a third year. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Kirktonholme Childcare Kirktonholme Childcare brings its award-winning service to 2 Grahamshill Street, Airdrie

There is much talk in the media right now about P1 Tests and Play based Kindergarten Stage of Learning up to age 7. At Kirktonholme we firmly believe in play, the research shows that children are not physically and developmentally ready for formal education until 7 years old. Let our babies be babies, let’s focus on the brain development, let’s focus on the relationships and most importantly let’s focus on the love 💗

Sometimes behaviours can be misinterpreted.

Sometimes when we stand back and take a minute, the more it makes sense.
All those big emotions are hard to handle for a child, they need you to understand and fill them up ☕️ 🤗 😘 ❤️ ☕️
