25 years on the planet 😲 feel like a different person to the one I was a year ago, and a different person to the one before that still. Always trying and tasting, staying open minded and evolving...but I’m so grateful to have this constant rock of support beside me 😍

Sometimes I think all this exercise is good for me...then I see these photos and realise, it’s going to put me in an early grave 💀😂

If there’s one thing doing an Ironman taught me, it’s to go big and go bold...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you for my amazing ‘non wanky’ Ironman tattoo 😂 I enjoy looking at it so much I’ve given myself neck strain. Go check her out if you’re in or around Farnham!

Good [type 2] fun at a wet n windy trail race yesterday. Very proud of Lyd for her first 10k and satisfied with my lung burner of an effort! Think if I lose any more gainz (bro) I might be accused of taking this running lark seriously...😬😂

Looking for quality in the miles, not just miles upon miles...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t believe you can go too far wrong with this approach, whatever form of training you’re undertaking. I don’t see a badge of honour for pointless sadomasochism.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The quality, or at least an awareness of, every rep, interval or foot strike is what matters most to me. Make time count, don’t count time as they say!
17/07/2019
It’s all a game.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s what you have to tell yourself when the war of attrition, that’s being waged inside your head, gets a little too much. Endure just one mile more...one mile more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of my toughest physical tests to date, thank you to everyone who wished me well and supported me throughout my training!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The sweetest part of the day - bar running down that finishing straight - was sipping a cold beer with Lyd in the hotel lobby afterwards, knowing the work was finally done...for now!

Back to the drawing board we go 🤔💭 @ Bolton

Here I am training functionally, in preparation for when my umbrella is violently swept away by gale force winds.

Give the lateral body some love ❤️We don’t move in fixed robotic planes, so if your sport/life involves some form of twist, dip, duck, dive or dodge (name the film ref. below ⬇️) then why would you train like a robot? It’s fun to explore those neglected areas like the obliques, QL, serratus etc.

When there’s no more work you can do, all that’s left is to put your feet up 🦶🏼🦶🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 week until 😬 with the amount of time dedicated to something like this, it’s easy to build it up in your own mind, to be more important than it actually is. It’s simply a race...a really bloody long one!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I entered it to gain more stories from which to better teach my clients, and to make a few people stop and think ‘fair play, that’s pretty cool...that makes me want to use my body a bit more’.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So THAT for me is what’s important. I look forward to recounting the pain for you all 😂
21/06/2019
When I was about 14 I got launched off a trampoline (the perils of the notorious double bounce 😂) and landed on my sacrum. Once the excruciating pain had numbed I got back on the trampoline and continued with my day, because at that age you are made of rubber and magic.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Years later it’s fair to say I suffered the consequences of neglecting to mobilise the area, so much so that it had completely locked up and I was forced to endure terrible back pain on the bike.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, after a couple of years dedicated to movement, I’m beginning to recognise the fruits of my persistence, and as you can deduce from this picture, get no pain whatsoever.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is not an extraordinary story, what’s extraordinary is the amount of people that neglect rehabbing an injury, and continue down a degenerative path to immobility. Don’t miss out on the joy that is freedom of movement! Shoot me a DM if you think I could help regain what’s rightfully yours.

Lost my Olympic triathlon virginity in some torrential rain and a fast flowing River Thames 🌊
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The pain and pre-race jitters are already but a distant memory! Managed an 8th place age category finish which I’m pleased with considering the few hiccups I had.

WHAT AN IRONMAN EATS IN A DAY - Ironman Vlog 04
Ever wondered what an Ironman athlete eats in a day? No? Me neither, but I did a video about it anyway...😂 Episode 4 of my Ironman training vlog is live, so give it a watch if you're interested...

If you don’t feel at home in your body, how will you ever feel at home in the world?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last year, me and sat down on the roof terrace of a Moroccan riad and came up with the idea for adventure retreats with the sole purpose of reconnecting people to their own physical existence.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A physical existence...This is something I see as paramount to all people, firstly for reasons that sit on the surface, such as decreased obesity rates and increased life expectancy, but secondly - and arguably more importantly - so that we can begin to transcend the construct of our inner ‘self’ that we have been ceaselessly creating whilst living in our own heads.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Liberation comes in many forms, but the way I know comes from challenging the body, testing it and changing it. It results in fluidity of mind that allows you to break down the walls of perceived identity, which has been laced with limiting beliefs you create for yourself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
...and you know, it’s just a weekend in the Alps without the kids n stuff 🤣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Few spaces still available so if you have a yearning for an adventure and movement in idyllic surroundings, then DM me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Prices start at £530 including flights, workshops, yoga/paddleboard yoga and breakfast, lunch & dinner everyday from our private chef.

After I’ve indulged myself in a silly race next month, I’m looking forward to focusing on the really important stuff, with the people that matter most...without feeling like I could fall asleep at any minute 😂😴

Your training doesn’t need to be in the gym for an hour each day to become valid.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Neither does it need to be called ‘training’, if your day to day activity serves you well enough (and I’m not just talking in terms of daily step count - think flexibility and variety of movement).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Moving/training (whatever you want to call it) outdoors gives me a huge sense of well-being and fulfilment, bordering on the spiritual. A feeling of ‘this is where I’m meant to be’ that allows me to forget about modern day ‘realities’ and reconnect to my feral self....grrrr 🤦🏻♂️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I take a whenever, wherever approach which I’ve found to greatly reduce the perceived burden of something which should always be a joy and a pleasure.
28/05/2019
Building something that will stand the test of time doesn’t happen overnight. Strong foundations will allow you to reap rewards long into old age and beyond.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Put money in the bank now and when you’re 85 you can live off the interest, harping on about your golden years as you drink yourself to death on the balcony of an Italian villa or do charity bungee jumps till your ticker gives out - at least that’s my plan anyway 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
here putting my straight line to shame!
27/05/2019
Keeping the foundations strong after abusing the body with endurance training over the last couple of weeks.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is evidence to suggest that humans were built to chase down packs of animals - far faster than themselves - until superior endurance prevailed and the animals succumbed through sheer exhaustion.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst this maybe the case, it was also built to self regulate, which is why it strives for homeostasis. So whilst you may use your ancestors to buoy yourself up and inspire the predator within (easy tiger 🐯), remember that your desk bound, mollycoddled arse has not been conditioned in quite the same way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I believe there is only so much improvement the body can take in a set space of time - in other words you won’t go from couch to Mo Farah overnight! Slow progress is good progress...

Aerodynamics of a shed 🙄 - last night at the lake 🏊🏼♂️

Seek discomfort.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m a sucker for cheap thrills, and cold water is most certainly one of them. Acknowledge the busy mind, which is working overtime to come up with a million and one excuses as to why you should not go in, before kicking it into autopilot and taking the plunge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mental robustness that translates into physical, further down the road. I guess you could say it’s my attempt to conform to nature, rather than insisting it conform to me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I reside in a temperature controlled house, sit on cushions that are ergonomically shaped to cradle my bony arse, and walk on soft fluffy carpets so my feet don’t get sore. Chances are you do the same. It feels empowering to shake things up and realise you’re not built from glass after all!
